Lifting a 2018

I have a 2018 TRD Off Road. I know it's not real popular on this forum, but I bought a 3in Rough Country lift for it because 1) I'm not planning to go off road this is strictly for looks and 2) I'm a teacher on a budget. I got the $500 dollar one with the N3 struts, not the cheaper one with coil spacers. Anyway, I don't wanna beat a dead horse because I've read several posts about this already, in fact so many that my head is spinning. But I think I have all I need to make this work. If you have done this successfully and see something I'm missing or I should consider, please by all means let me know.

Goal: Clear 285/75r16s with stock TRD Off Road Wheels

What I've got:

4 count of 1in wheel spacers
3in RC Lift Kit with N3 struts
ToyTec Sway Bar relocation Kit

Concerns:

- Will the spacers I have take care of any rubbing? I also plan to remove mud flaps on the front
- Has anyone lifted an 18 and had any problems with the TSS system? I turn most of them off anyway, the only one I use consistently is the cruise control on the interstate. Anybody had any problems with that?
- I know with bigger tires I can expect a decrease in fuel mileage. Right now I get roughly 19-20 mpgs out of a tank. The WV hills don't help with that. I have the 6 speed manual. Can anyone with the manual give me a rough estimate of just how much mpgs 285s costs them?

Please, if you have done this post pictures. I'd love to see what the stance looked like before and after. I have a buddy who owns a tire shop who is installing this for me, so I'm not as concerned with the process just did it work for you, what problems you've experienced and the before and after.

Not sure about the rubbing with that tire size but I just put the same kit on
and I'm running - BFG KO2's 265/70/17 - They did rub the up front but only
on a full turn, only happened when I pulled in somewhere to park, never on the
road.

I have 1.5" spacers as well on all 4 wheels.

One of the first things I noticed is how differently it dealt with the monster speed
bumps we have here at work, at least 50% less harsh bounce in the rear. Handling
is great, seems no different from stock plus this is how the taco should look!

 

Sounds like a good game plan you may have to do the CBC an get some filler plates an massage the wheel well liner some.

 

You got any pics? I'm assuming with 17in wheels you have a sport

Wow that looks pretty good. Looks like you have the spacer lift in the front, not the N3 struts tho?

 

Anybody else have the 3in RC level? I'm curious as to what 265/75r16s look like with it as well. Torn between the 285 and the extra head ache that it might entail and sticking with the stock 265 size.

 

32" (265) will have better power, MPG, handling. Unless you NEED 33's, I think 32's look just fine. For your purposes, I would've skipped the lift altogether and just went with a front spacer with 32" tires. 275/70/16 is another option that is slightly smaller, but wider.

 

yes, sorry misread the op. Spacer in the front, new shocks/blocks
in the rear. This kit was about 300.

 

Hows the ride quality compared to stock? Debating going with RC also, most of my off-roading is on the beach, so I don't need anything crazy.

have n3’s in front and the v2’s in rear 3” running 285/70/17 no rubbing or trimming. Temp setup till my fox kit comes in

Of course! Only thing I would suggest if swapped out the stock low beam bulbs for leds!

OP, I have 285/70/17 and 6" lift and my MPGS went from 20 (stock) down to 17 (lifted w/ tires).

It's not a drastic change, but since you have a smaller lift, you may experience less drastic of a change.

 

@40ozboys looks awesome. Does the N3 ride stock or stiffer?

 

They actually are a smooth ride. Would compare close to stock. Have taken it off-roading and up trials and does fine!

 

For the price I think I might start with that. I live in RI not much off roading here all private property. Some dunes but protected water shed area. There is a jeep trail in CT but it's a 7 out of 10 difficulty that's the only trail we really have.
