I was hoping to install my T-Rex Eyelids today on my truck but after spending about 2 hours driving/visiting every paint & auto supply store in the area I was unable to find matching spray paint for the 1G3 (Magnetic Grey). O'Reilly's told me they could mix me some, but it would cost $50. Advanced Auto Parts states they can order me some but it would be the middle of next week before it would be here, so I guess I am having to wait until next weekend for the install.

With that said, how does the brand from "Duplicolor" match up? That is the brand that Advanced is ordering for me.

    Thanks in advance.

Why didnt you just go around to body shops and asked them how much it would be to have them professionally painted? They can match the paint pretty damn close and it would have been professionally done. I'm sure it would have been $50 or less.

Understandable if you dont feel like paying that much. But check the body shops around you. Also ebay sells spray cans of colormatched paint.

I don't have any body shops in my area that are open on Saturday.

I really didn't expect to have a hard time to find the paint.

And to be honest, I can't justify spending $50 on them when the paint that I ordered from Autozone is going to cost less than $7 and I already own spray paint clear coat, so if I do a horrible job I'm out only $7 and then can pay a body shop to do them. If I do a good job I've saved $43!

Are you sure that the Autozone stuff is a spray can? The little bottles of touch up paint are about $7 at the Advance Auto where I am but they only come with a pen tip and tiny brush.

Yeah, my local Advanced Auto sells the 8 ounce spray cans for $6.49+tax, and the touch-up pen/brush for $6.99+tax.

I ordered the spray can as I already have the pen/brush for my vehicle.

Go to a NAPA store. We have the same issue with the Silver streak Mica. $20 got me a large (20-30oz) can of spot on, silver streak mica.

Took'em 2 days to make it cause I ordered it just before the weekend.

Very true man. Well I assume if you know how to prep, keep the paint durable, and make it look just like factory then what you did was a good idea! I would still check out some body shops Monday morning to see what some places are charging though!
