Advice for a long healthy marriage

That's why there's always a red ducati in the garage! Seriously though-
21 years married.
1. Don't sweat the small stuff.
2. Talk and don't be afraid to share.
3. Laugh.

 

Once a day, cup her beautiful face in your hands, give her a romantic kiss and tell her you love her.....oh, and don't get married. Marriage is the number one cause of divorce.

 

I am not experienced in this case much. But one thing for keeping the good relationship for a long time. Believe each other a lot. This is the most important thing. Also respect each other decision.

Pick the right woman, Don't play games, let her know she's loved and hold her when the shit hits the fan.

 

If you have a two income house (even if only some of the time) make sure you each keep a percentage of what you bring home as your own. In our house we each keep 20% off the top that goes into our own account - but any amount will help so do what works for your house.
We almost never fight about money because we both have a stash of our own to buy things that don't belong to the house...like new sliders or whatever girl stuff she wants. The fewer sources of disagreement the better.

 

48 years here. Our secret was just picking the right spouse. Or dumb luck.

 

Treat em like dirt and they'll stick to you like mud. Just kidding......But seriously.

 

29+ years, have fun with each other, talk, walk and hold hands. Both must be happy and never stop enjoying each other.

 

Marry someone who wants the same thing out of marriage that you do.

Get your finances is order. Money is a major source of resentment.

Communicate.

I believe you need to treat your partner like a best friend.

Its easy to get lost in the hustle of life. Make time for eachother. The little things matter.

I've been married 33 years - to the same person, no less.

1. I wear the pants in the family, but she tells me which pants to wear.

2. I can always get in the last word, as long as those words are "Yes, Dear."

3. The true secret to a successful marriage: Knowing which if your wife's clothes can go in the dryer and which ones need to be hung up.

 

It all comes down to you and her. If you or her want to venture off the path there’s nothing that can really do to stop that. Even if you guys have a happy relationship. People change if not now, later, if not once, twice etc. It is up to the couple to want to work things out and be together.

There are many people out there for you to have a relationship with. Think of it like location. You are more than likely to be with someone who is in the same location as you, be it 20 miles or 500 miles. That’s not including the state you live in or the country you’re on. I always say it’s not about finding the one. It’s about who you want to put up with.

hah, it's the opposite in our house...I'm way more picky about hanging/drying certain clothes of mine than she is. We've gotten into a few spats over that.

 

We do our own laundry. Except he does my ironing. I am physically incapable of doing that.

 

For the most part, we do too...but sometimes we mix it up especially if one does a smaller load. Last time, there was a miscommunication and she thought I only put in whites so she added bleach to my colors. That was a fun one

 

My fiancée refuses to iron. Doesn’t have the patience, maybe.

 

I iron wrinkles into my clothes.

It requires too much attention to detail.

 

I haven't done laundry or ironed since I was a teenager living on my own.
