Out of curiosity what is the appeal of the raptor package vs just a ford ranger/f150/tacoma? I get the appeal as a weekend fun truck but as a daily driver I'm confused. It will always get less MPG than it's standard counterparts (even class counterparts) and it's an additional $10k sticker price. Couldn't you just buy a '19 Ranger and drop $10k into it to customize it exactly to your liking? $10k goes a looooooong way

    Still stock completely capable!
That’s why I went with the TRD O/R over the PRO. The Pro is an already built machine and I would of felt sick pulling parts off the Mona Lisa!

And not even saying the money saved will make my truck superior to the PRO in any way! I Love and respect the PRO!! But this is going to be my first ever project vehicle! I’ve owned truck pre lifted but this time it’s going to be mine all mine! I Love the PRO!

First off the Raptor doesn't require Premium fuel.. That is a personal decision on what you run... The 1st GENs only got about 10-11 mpg. I owned 2 of those. This 2nd gen is a turbo 3.5 L and it averages 16-17 mpg in the city and I have seen 18-20 hwy. Not to your specs, but if i can afford the 70k+ full size raptor then a couple gallons of gas I won't miss. You are right it will not fit in my garage and it does sit outside.. Its huge to say the least.. Saves on hotel costs when i go hunting. I can sleep in the back seat.

Raptor Ranger will be a winner in my book. But I don't want to wait for who knows how long and then pay above msrp on markups when/if i find one in stock somewhere like I did the 2nd gen raptor.

Tacoma grill and the raptor grill really isn't that much different. The chin on the tacoma looks funky to me.

But I like them both and i have owned plenty of both trucks.. My situation right now in my life looks brighter with a paid off TRD PRO than a large raptor with a payment sitting on my driveway. If the Raptor Ranger comes about, then we may change again at that time.... its all good either way.

Ford will have to hire more Tow Truck Drivers, Service Techs to fix the major breakage/warranty influx of new Baby Raptors.
Hope they come with Fords version of On-Star roadside assistance (Ford Care)
You won't have to worry about keeping it in your garage, as it will probably be at your local Ford Service garage most of the time.

My Tacoma has been one of the most unreliable vehicles I have ever owned so this Ranger Raptor does not have to be perfect LOL. Four dealer visits in 10K with major repairs required.

I could customize a 19 Ranger but then comes the warranty issue. I know some dealers immediately say warranty void if they see certain bolt on parts even thought that's not how it should work. With the Ranger Raptor its all set, get in & enjoy with a warranty on everything.

Just messing with everyone that is after the Baby Raptor, I'm sure it will be fine.
That is what warranty is for.

No worries LOL. I am just really disappointed on how unreliable my Tacoma has been as I like the truck overall. It just worries me that this unreliability will be a constant fight with this vehicle. I knew I was going to keep it for about 2 more years so I had to buy a Toyota warranty to cover who knows what in that time frame. One of my repairs was close to $4k alone.

Right, I understand that - same reason people buy TRD Pro's. What I'm curious on is why one would need a truck that is so insanely powerful at such a high pricetag. I find it unlikely people are using the F150 Raptors to their truest potential (who is buying a $70k rig and doing baja jumps and true offroading? my guess is very very very few). Not saying they are bad trucks at all - but I'm still very curious on what the market is. Is it just rich people who need to have a better trim than the rest? Lead foot truck drivers who miss their vettes?

I think it is an image, ego thing. Look at how many folks buy a 4x4 and never take it off road for
    fear of scratching the paint.

I would say mostly yes to your last two statements ha ha. The Bro factor also. I see guys driving Raptors all the time as company vehicles. I myself go up to the UP of Michigan often & run my truck hard offroad. You can drive on lots of logging roads up there.

I know this is one of those ‘I know a guy who knows a guy things’ but my uncle (true story) is the assistant service manager of the Toyota dealership I bought my Tacoma from (MASSIVE part of my vehicle choice) and the thing that really gave me peace of mind is looking behind the dealership where all the Toyota techs parked and guess what they drive. Tacoma,Tacoma,Tacoma and there was a FJ (my dream SUV which I will own when Mr Taco is paid off) and a few misc like Camrys. Moral of the story is it’s nice when guys who see the problems on these vehicles trust them enough to buy them! My uncle does drive the 15 with the 4.0 and loves to blast me about his little more torque but felt good when he walked up as I grabbed the Keys and said “Holly F@#k, you finally made a good decision” LOL

Same breath my brother has a 2014 Fx4 3.5eb .. just over 120km(sorry Canadian) and has never had a single problem! As we progress into time vehicles are really becoming Similar in quality . Toyota has dropped slightly over the past years (from uncles mouth not mine) and fords have improved I still do trust Toyota thou just my Opinion and I’m in no way a expert

Buy what you love and makes you smile every time you drive it ! I did just that and couldn’t be happier !

In the words of the ever wise Kazzer

“It doesn't matter what you drive
It's like you drive what you got
    Discipline you can win
    Just let the tire spin
    And begin
The journey of life with each ride”

Pedal to the metal ! Lol

There are half a dozen Raptors in my town. So far all DD's driven by large women or old guys.

I can't any other reason to proceed with the transaction that the bolded. American's carry way too much debt.

It's a psychological burden that is unnecessary

Have you considered an Off Road, save some bucks, you can get an 18 loaded with tech/premium package for $37k right now, instead of $47k MSRP on a PRO. Besides the aesthetics and "Fox Suspension", its the same truck and would likely suit your needs off road performance wise and then some, most PRO owners don't need their PRO, same for Off Road owners. Just saying.

It's not just a psychological burden - its a very real burden. Most people overspend on their vehicles (6+ year loans, 1/2 your paycheck goes to vehicle, can't afford proper insurance and upkeep, ect. ect.). I'm guilty of it too but the reality of it is that a vehicle is a TERRIBLE investment if you're buying it for fun. It costs a ton upfront and costs even more to fix. All of those costs are sunk costs that you never get back. Oh yeah and it depreciates at an insane rate, even Raptors. If you are very outdoorsy then yeah 4x4 is a necessity but 90% of 4x4 owners should have gotten a 4x2. Same for trucks in general - tons of people never use the utility of trucks and could have gotten by with a Rav4 or a CRV or something cheaper. We're all paying top dollar for tech packages and premium packages but when you go to trade it in they'll give you a small fraction of that back.

None of that matters if you're rich. Just ignore what I wrote and buy whatever you want.
