Why does it have to be shielded, proximity to the alternator?

Typically low voltage hall effect and magnetic type sensors are shielded so RF and other EMI doesn't alter their values before they make it to the ECU since small changes can make a huge difference. Like on the Z, the MAF and CAS are both shielded hardcore

    I know right!?

It's like there's a Texas sized plastic/trash island in the Pacific Ocean or something, and this is one (small) way to reduce the impact of our use of plastics.

I used a paper straw the other day I was waiting for Nansi Polosi to knock down my door and force me to take a vegan yoga class, but that didn't happen (yet). But all that happened was that I enjoyed my beverage.

    :D

While that does sound like fun, melted plastic still floats.

You could burn it at high enough temps where the particulates just go into the atmosphere, but I'm not convinced that would be any better, either.

Using less of it seems like the most logical way forward.

    you get that from Amazon?

To be clear, the trash "island" is not really an "island" so dense with floating debris that you can walk across it (although there are smaller scale islands that really are that dense - but I wouldn't walk on it, lol), the main "islands" aren't even readily visible from satellite imagery. It was discovered in the 80's by a bunch of researchers taking thousands of ocean water samples over huge areas.

i was skeptical of paper straws but used one the other day and didn't even realize it was paper until I was nearly done with the drink. Didn't get soggy or anything like I expected a paper straw would

I've used a few and some of them have a different mouth feel compared to plastic but it's not a big deal. Just different.

The funny thing is it's kinda like those chip bags that came out a few years ago that were compostable but they were noisy and crinkly so people hated them. I can only assume that most of people who hated them try to sneak a bag of chips after they put their kids to bed and don't want them to hear you opening it...

Just found out my dad is in the hospital for heart attack type symptoms. Was I. AFIB and they had to sedate and shock him to get it back to beating normally. Way to ruin a day

Forget the single use plastic bags everyone still seems to using, clearly plastic straws are the issue.

I’m sorry to hear about that. My mom has been a Cardiovasular nurse for thirty years, I’ve heard it all.

    Hope he’s okay.

I just mean that a lot of people seem to care more about seemingly insignificant things like the noise a chip bag makes or insisting on plastic straws rather than their overall impact on the earth.

I'm certainly not a kumbaya/flower in your hair/healing crystals type "environmentalist," I just try not to be wasteful and re-use things when it makes sense, and islands of trash WE put in the ocean is one of those things that simply doesn't need to be there.
