Advice for a long healthy marriage

I did it once last year when I was at a hotel for work, just ironing my collars.


I had 7 shirts ready to go.. I did one and then said fuck it I don’t care. Haven’t done it since.

 

Any of you guys that hate ironing, this stuff is a miracle....just a few sprays and wrinkles are gone in seconds.

Just sucks if you have to wear it right away and it's cold, lol

 

I don’t get wrinkles but that looks good for traveling.

I just don’t like collars that aren’t crisp. Almost as much as I don’t like ironing them.

 

Anyone else (in your long and happy marriages) get in screaming matches over how to load the dishwasher?

 

If you are not going to be the cook in the family make sure you wife is willing to and that she is good at it. I spend a lot of money eating out so I can avoid as much of her cooking as possible.

I don't wear anything that requires ironing really. I still dress like I live in Mom's basement

 

yeah we got married last week in the redwoods, I camped with my buddies there the night before and had to get ready in a public state park restroom... no ironing boards, of course. This stuff worked great, but not as good as an iron when it comes to crisp collars. Gets the job done in a pinch though

 

Best advice ever from my dad;

The only thing with a worse outcome than losing an arguement with your wife is winning an arguement with her. (As if that's even possible)

Married for 17 years. There are no secrets. Good times and bad....Be willing to work at it sometimes

Honor your committment, you took vows live up to them! One of the maddest she got at me was when she thought it would be romantic to renew our vows. I refused and told her I have lived up to the originals to the letter and saw no need. I did give her my Grandma’s wedding ring though.
I can be a grumpy old bastard but she is still my best friend. She just turned 50 we have been together since she was 15 married when she was 18 she still looks like she’s in her late 30’s I look like I got run over by a truck

 

Not screaming matches, but when she puts stuff in the dishwasher, my OCD kicks in and I have to rearrange it to make optimal use of all the space.

 

Granddaddy use to say "Marry a woman who can cook. Anyone can screw but a good cook is hard to find."

 

We just spent our 32nd anniversary in Mammoth, Ca. Relax, and be honest, patient, and persistent. You're partners for life, treat each other like it.

 

I was married a little over 3 years the first time. She decided She wanted to start dating while we were married. I have been married 35 years the second time around. You have to work at it. And be honest with each other.

I never knew what true happiness was until I got married...and by then it was too late!

Seriously, lots of good advice has been given, but communication has to be a priority. Together you can accomplish anything!

We barely fight, or argue we work great with each other

 

Don’t spend the wedding budget on more car parts.

I cant take critisism on my dishwasher loading skills very well.
