Yep same with the JL turbo, FCA recommends 91 or greater but can run on 87.

I had nothing but good experiences with the rangers that I've owned, similar to Toyota, routine maintanence was pretty much was all that was required to keep it reliable. I like my tacoma and hope to get many trouble years out of it and when the time comes for a new truck I will do what I did when I bought the tacoma which is to do some research and get the vehicle that best fits my needs. I hope this is a long way out though.

I've always thought the Ranger was a good looking truck let down by the engine choice. Then I test-drove the 3.0 with the manual and knew it for a fact. The 4.0 was better but I'd take the Toyota 2.7/3.4 over either.
This new Ranger intrigues me. Too bad about the transmission.

It boggles my mind when somebody spends 30k on a complex machine with thousands of moving parts and doesn't do any type of maintenance and blame the car for being junk

I live in AZ and see a ton of old Rangers still on the road, I owned one for a few years and it was a great little truck. I prefer the old ranger look in comparison to first gen Tacos but I think the 3rd gen Tacos have these new Rangers beat in terms of looks.

Unfortunately for Toyota, trucks aren't measured by simply their horsepower.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks almost as carlike as a Honda Ridgeline?

The photos of the Ranger Rapter look better to me but I would need to see more.

The front-end definitely looks crossover-derived. I bet the new Frontier will be similar. And the roll-bar?

The photos show the foreign-market Ranger, which has to compete with other ugly trucks like the Hilux and Mazda BT-50:

I agree. I think the roll bar may be more of a Hilux hat tip than anything seems like that is a a common accessory item in the middle east.

I agree, the Hilux & Ranger are both Fugly. Tacoma for the win!

I saw quite a few Ridgelines in the mountains of Vermont. Most of them were raised up and had serious looking rubber.

Sounds like the new Bronco is going to come with a 7 Speed Manual, sounds interesting.
