Had a ThinkWare F800 PRO front and rear installed yesterday. Significant upgrade to the Marcus 4 I had previously.

To be honest I have no limit. I would like to use the go pro mount as a place to have it in but if I cant, i cant. I'm also curious if I can have it on while I'm parked. I know that as soon as I turn off the taco the power cuts so idt that's possible but hey it's worth the mention.

Check out this website then. They go into great detail on all different cameras and features. What you want is possible, just needs to be wired a certain way. It's called parking mode.

Yes. Most dash cams will stay running after you shut the truck off but you have to do a direct wire to the fuse panel. its Dead simple though.

Blackvue is the one that all others are measured against. But it’s also about the most expensive, probably not best value for money. But it will be the one that simply works and you can have it on while parked.
I’m looking for one with front and rear, and live rear with RCA out so I can wire it to headunit and also use as bed-cam. If you want it for YouTube then front only is fine, if you want it for insurance / vandalizing then you’ll need front and rear.

I installed a Blackvue DR590W-2CH and I'm very pleased with it. Mounted using the go pro mount. With blackvue, you set up parking (engine off) parameters which turns it off before your battery dies. Select either time or battery voltage. Mine is set to 12v, so when the drain gets the battery down to 12v it shuts off. Also look at the 750. It has built in GPS and cloud capability.

I have a rexing on the wife’s car and a pruveeo on mine. Both from Amazon, and got the wiring kit where I can just tap into ignition fuse so that it turns on everytime I start the truck. The rexing was about $100 for camera, $10 for wiring kit, and $22 for 128gb card. The pruveeo was only $40 but video quality is same as the rexing. I have both set for loop so once it fills up the card, it just writes over exsisting data. They can also be played from the camera, so when I was in my accident, me and the officer went back and tried to watch but other car had no tags, so I was close to having it pay off

I have this one, seems to not be available anymore but I'm sure there's one like it.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PPYDAXA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When I first got it I did some test run and it worked find. I was able to pull the sd card out and play it on my computer. After 3 years it still works. Turns on when I start the car and turns off when I turn off the car. Sometimes I forget it's even mounted behind the rear view mirror. I check it sometimes just to make sure it is still recording. This is on another vehicle of mine. I have yet to need to use it for any accidents, knock knock. Keep in mind if you are at fault it could go against you too.

I thought about putting one in the Tacoma too just to record my trail adventures. Lets be real here, I'm not going to watch those videos unless I wanted to do a video blog and post it up. It's like my phone, filled with photos, most of which I don't even look at or remember taking :)
