Is this using the pulse feature?

No, I typically only use the pulse on the aluminum.

    Thanks.

Never used pulse with my spool gun. Kind of curious how it works.

I like it already, I will definitely be getting one of the larger boxed tables.

    Nice beads!
I'm assuming the new Miller would be the AC/DC multiprocess they've been teasing? How'd you get your hands on a Prototype machine?

Hoping to see some new stuff at SEMA ;)

    Meh.

I like my 1" thick 4' x 5' table. I'm used to welding my work to the table.

Possibly. I know there will be a mp version. The one I have is not the mp.
it does have program select with similar to the invision. It is also pulse capable.
What I really like is it allows you to adjust almost every weld perimeter like some of the advanced process machines.
I was able to achieve the same results with the Lincoln and loved my Lincolns until I got this one. With the Lincoln I had one machine set up for 0.30 for the pretty welds and one with 0.35 for the internal welds. Now I can get the same results with one machine on 0.35 wire.
I will tell you there is no way I could get these results on the Lincoln with 0.35.
On that note I have one almost new lincoln 256 left for sale :)
I really like to get into the machines and tweak perimeters to my liking,I had the miller rep out to sample the invision and they said they were impressed and wanted me to field test this unit and give feedback. Pretty cool opportunity!
The control on this machine honestly makes my miller 252 and Lincoln 256 feel like I bought them from harbor freight.
I don't think I'm far from you so once they release it let me know if you would like to try it out.

Awesome. So now from hearing what you have to say I'm thinking more along the lines of a replacement/upgrade for the Millermatic 252.... and maybe a DX/MP AC DC version as well. Sounds cool.
For the most part I would prefer other brands to Miller/Lincoln due to there being more adjustments for addtional parameters, just somewhere that they've fallen short. For instance I have a Esab EMP 235ic that has a lot more adjustment options on it than a Miller 252 or the Lincoln 256's. Some times just being able to control inductance is nice to get the weld to lay out and the arc to behave the way you want.
If I don't see them announce and give tests at SEMA I'd love to take you up on the offer to give it a try. I think you're down by Sacramento or Grass Valley?

Yes, I'm really not a huge fan of my 252. I do like my 256 better however the support from miller has been insane!
They literally gave me a machine to use while my Lincoln was down and getting worked on. Lincoln could care less that I was down a machine, took them 3 weeks to tell me everything was fine, I ended up fixing on my own. I'm sure it's different for different areas but my local miller rep Silvio has been great!
My local Lincoln rep John didn't even know how to change a liner or drive rolls lol.
The new machine does allow inductance adjustment and The trigger select is a game changer for me.
I am in grass valley and would more than happy to let you try it out!

@RelentlessFab do you do much aluminum? If so I can let you try out the invision with the trigger select and profile pulse, that is a huge upgrade from the 350p

Do you have any examples of this on aluminum? For my boat building this could make a huge difference.

    Evening everyone,
looking for some advice on plug welding VS slot (?)
the goal, to make a tube bending die by stacking up 1/8" plate and welding it together.

I have the design done, but how to join the plates? First I thought about alternating slots ( top pic ) on each plate to spread out the heat and try to minimize warping. Then I second guessed myself and figured plug welds would be fine, less work, less welding ect... ( 2nd Pic )

what do you guys think? I'm leaning towards plug welding.

    YKQNu5gLE2FJvILMqoudv9ihC1b8K1BlT6wEPlOq_90da32cd3da863967d116f7eeb7af6227eb06366.jpg

if it matters, the slots are 1/2" wide and approx 3" long, the holes for the plugs are 3/4" diameter. The "Die" is a 120 degree 7" center radius die meant for 1 3/4" tube.

to help you visualize everything, here is a mock up of what I'm trying to do.
many plates stacked on top of each other, each one a different size, all made to fit the outer diameter of a pipe, then welded together with alternating slots or plugs. ( what's shown is only half the required plates )

I appreciate you taking the time to look this over and offer your opinion.
