Amazon. Home Depot. Pep boys. Apply for a job at a fire extinguisher factory, get hired, wait until benefits kick in, buy one with employee discount, then quit.

The pole really made this thread effective. Happy to vote. #iamavoter

Side note, Ace Hardware had them on sale when I was in there this weekend.

I did it incorrectly, bought a cheap First Alert and threw it behind the seat. No trucks have burned down yet in 3 years

Brilliant. I like how a better fire extinguisher is on your future build list! As a volunteer FF I prefer mono ammonium phosphate dry chem. With quick access outside the cab. You however have your shit together with your awesome build.

Agreed. Also a volunteer FF here. I have an extinguisher I want(and can) mount in the bed, but I have serious concerns of the security of it. Can't have it quickly accessible if there's no locking device What's to stop some drunken idiot from discharging the extinguisher in the bed of my truck?

Nothing. But maybe, just maybe people are not ALL stupid assholes (Notwithstanding Congress), but instead respect the tool or use it for good. I have on occasion tucked it in the cab at football games and sketchy neighborhoods, and I teach Fire Safety Merit Badge so the next generation of stupid assholes hopefully do their stupid shit elsewhere. Plus the dickhead would get caught on my rear facing dash cam that operates on vibrations so it may be possible to resolve the problem the old fashion way.

Love this setup with the quick release but it doesn't work for anyone that has a bed cover. Be nice if the mount could be turned so I could have it at the rear of the bed and just be able to drop the tailgate and grab it.

I never thought to use a fire extinguisher as a legal, handy defensive weapon...with or without pulling the pin???

I got a free extinguisher. The inspector came by the office for the annual inspection and noted that we needed to get our extinguisher refilled. However, he said that it's actually cheaper to replace than to refill, so the office bought a new one and I took the old one.

I’ve seen guys mount the bracket back there.

With a bed cover on? I'm pretty sure that mount has to have the quick release facing up, and obviously you wouldnt be able to get to it very well with the bed cover down. Unless you can put the mount upside down and the pull pin was facing downward.

Several options there. The pin is spring loaded. Build an offset bracket or other to mount one vertically for a couple ideas. Link near bottom of my build thread first post to bracket so you can design. I added my own bed rail attachments, as it comes as a simple bracket.

I’m not a bed cover owner so don’t know details but I’m sure with some ingenuity or searching there are myriad guys who’ve mounted all sorts of brackets under them.

check the Element fire extinguisher. They're pricey but maintenance-free, light, mount anywhere and they last much much longer (when putting out a blaze). They work like a flare.
