Custom Maglite Holder

I didn't find anything available, so I decided to build my own mount for a flashlight using 2 Quick Fists, 1/8" ABS plastic and ladder lock buckles.


Tried to make it as clean as possible, but this is what I came up with.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

 

Is the Maglite for actual light or is it a last ditch baton option?

 

Never used it to hit anything and hope it doesn't come to that lol.

This has been my go to camping/off-road flashlight since I can remember, it's kinda hard to lose an item this big while camping haha.

Quickfists are nice, but not very “quick” to remove/reinstall. I like C clips like posted above^. But great location for a light

 

I hate to break it to you but

 

I considered that option, but the reviews were not that good, stating that they would break easily. Otherwise they were my first option.

Yup, that kinda "sucks", but I don't use it that much and just wanted a secure and easy to reach location. I'll see how that works in real life haha.

Nice! but I don't believe that option would work in my truck (The back seats wouldn't close). Although I could drill in the extra cargo space, but I would be back to having it in a not so easy to reach location. Cool setup though.

 

I’m just saying you could mount it anywhere. This is in my reg cab so it’s right next to the drivers seat

 

I just bought this https://www.maglite.com/shop/parts-and-accessories/maglite-2-cell-d-test-accessory-1983.html and snapped it around the passenger seat headrest, so the body of the flashlight hangs down behind the seat. It's an easy reach over to grab it in a hurry if need be.

I bought a second one for the driver's seat that my passenger can use, or I can grab easily if I'm outside the truck reaching in.

No drilling, no adhesives, they're cheap, easily removable, etc.

On my recent trip Out West I put the red lens in the second MagLite and used that one when inside Craters of the Moon - it's a designated "dark skies preserve", so it was nice having an option that wouldn't kill my night vision.

 

This is exactly what I used. So simple, inexpensive, and very accessible. I added a length of velcro strap from the headrest post to the maglite holder to keep it hanging naturally.

 

Yeah, I just remove it and snap it to the ridgeline or the strap near my head when hammock camping.
