warning light next (right) of the clock

I've got a 2005 Tacoma and there is a red warning light immediately to the right of the clock that flashes when the engine is off. It appears to be a silhouette of a vehicle. The light stops flashing the moment the key is installed and the truck is started. Once again it appears only when the truck is turned off, I'd appreciate any info...I haven't had the truck for very long but am very happy with it. Thanks

 

it is a security device. the truck is programmed to start once it recognizes that the programmed key is inserted. That is why there is a key in the middle of it.

That's the icon noting that the engine immobilizer is working correctly.

You may want to read your owner's manual.

 

I did read the owners manual and couldn't find any references... what page is it on?

 

Its referred to as the Theft Deterrent System. Pg 78 of your owners manual.
