I was taught no hammers and no welding on the table. It's just how I've done it for 20+ years.

I'd run smaller slots in a higher count/density personally. Like 5/16" wide, 1/2" long slots, and in multiple directions

As cheap as that iron is vs buying the complete dies, why not do both?

I'll take the one you don't want to keep.

The pulse is pretty clean to start but a proper push angle virtually eliminates soot. Those pics are with no clean up.

Amazing! Does this unit have 100 percent duty cycle? I've got some Uber long welds.

Seems about right. My 25 year old Miller was $1900 + $1500 for the spool gun.

If you have the work it pays for itself If it sits in the corner under a tarp it is expensive .

I kinda see two groups when it comes to bells and whistles those that understand and can benefit by the advanced settings .

The others poking and pushing things they have no idea what it does . Till the weld characteristics are so bad they scream the welder is broken !!! Warranty Warranty !!

Manufacture Support is pretty much a area to area thing Here Miller and Hypertherm are the best.

Lincoln is trying but tends to hire people right out of school and pay is on the lower end so turn over is high

Esab reps never last very long at all

Thanks for the advice, I'll mock it up in fusion and see how that works/looks.

    as for the die's
pro-tools lists theirs for approx $316 us, I'm in Canada, $316US to CAD = $409 Plus shipping, plus Customs..... not to mention I need the bender as well. I've looked but no one seems to make dies here in Canada, or benders that are anywhere close to be affordable. I've looked into the local businesses as well, to see who can bend me some pipe, but none seem to either want to, or can do the 1 3/4" pipe I want for my sliders or bumper.

that's why I'm trying to make my own, Steel and cutting is right about $140CAD. I have the welder ( lincoln 140 mig ) so I figured why the hell not.

I'm aware of affordable benders but at $345us we are right back into the same issue with currency conversion and customs, and shipping.

I'll be sure to let everyone know how this turns out. you can all laugh at my ugly welds.

if the tube die does not work out, it may come to that, I could even pie cut it.

but "if" this does work, it could be a really good option for those who can't afford the dies no matter what currency you use.

Hypertherm is an hour and half down the road from me. They have treated us top notch here. The rest of your accounts are spot on.

I liked my esab Tig machines. But my Millers are on par these days and break way less.

Bells and whistles. Where to start. Haha. Yes. In the right hands they're kick ass. I use pulse , not for heat control, but actually to agitate the puddle for quicker full pen on tubing. I mean the result is less heat and pull, but it's because of the travel speed factor more so than the input heat, if that makes sense.

I've used amplitude on long aluminum sheet runs too and boy was that cool. Probably 30-40% longer stitches with less warping

Did you check the local muffler replacement shop to see if they could bend your pipe?

I used them to bend the tube for one of my bumpers. Only cost me a case of beer.

I took a template made out of coat hangers. I told them to " match the bends of the wire". They were perfect.
