Hey all, about a week ago I bought a 09 Tacoma SR5 package. Well the dealer never said anything about a back-up camera nor was I under the impression that I had one. Well I got looking around today and I realized that I have the camera mounted on the tailgate handle. I don't believe i have any controls to activate on the inside or if thier is I don't know about them.

Are the cameras mounted in all trucks in the factory regaurdless if they have the back-up camera option?

    or

Do I have the back-up camera and I don't know how to use it?

    Thanks in advance?

    Nothing at the moment
Put it in reverse and look at your rear view mirror. That's the only way to engage it. I hope to find the the jumper wire so I can put it to a switch and activate it whenever I want. Haven't been that motivated yet. Once I do, I will post a thread with pictures and instructions.

I was told that the camera was standard in the SR5 package.

I have an SR5 and have it. Works great for backing up in limited sight areas and hooking up trailers.

Is there wires going to your guys rear view mirror? I have no wires whatsoever going to my rear view mirrors, screen does NOT pop up when in reverse, but DO indeed have an SR5 and DO have the camera on my tailgate. I'm confused!! Call the dealer tomorow and ask I guess. Does anybody have an SR5 without the back up camera?

    Stock. Purchased 2/17/19. Cement!
Tell us what you find out. I'm curious. Perhaps the camera is standard but not the screen. As stupid as that sounds...we are talking about Toyota and the fact that Nav's are still not an option and neither is a double-cab X-Runner. How sweet would that be!

Ya, I'll let you guys know how I make out. I'm thinking maybe only TRD SR5 get the option. I don't have the TRD package.

The base SR5 does have the backup camera but only with the SL Extra Value Package. Maybe it just wasn't hooked up correctly?

that is what i am also seeing on the web site. It looks like the only way to get the se sr5 package is if you have a regular cab. if you have a access cab or double cab then the only sr5 package you can get is the sl one. That is in Oklahoma so i am not sure if it is different in other states or canada.

I have an 08 and I don't have a back up camera... But the auto dimming mirror - do they really work? I don't trust ads since they can make them say anything they want. I'd like real world experience to verify they do what they are supposed to do.

    thanks.

Personally, I don't like auto-dimming mirrors. My parents have one in their old Dodge, and they work fine, but I prefer the old-school ones where you flip the lever. They look more natural to me. But then I'm a guy who prefers manual locks and windows too. I'm strange like that. I don't know, maybe the new auto-dimmers look better than the ones from '95.

x2. Mine came that way too and I love it, especially when the guy behind you flashes his brights. Doesn't bother me at all. Now if they could only do that with the side mirrors.

I like the auto dim as well.In the past couple of years,I have developed astigmatism (getting old ),and I have found myself increasingly sensitive to night glare. The auto dim really helps with that I find.

Well I guess I don't have the Extra value package, just the standard SR5 package? I have everything on the list except the auto-dimming mirror/monitor, foglights and sun-visor with mirror extenders. It funny though that my truck is equipped with the camera.

I wonder how easy it be to buy the mirror and hook it up?
