Ok I have done research to the best of my ability and have read threads on the forum but I want your opinion as well directly.

I am looking to buy a manual transmission TRD Pro or OR in Voodoo Blue (that's the only color I want).

I know with the manual I lose MTS and Crawl Control and I will change the Fox suspension for sure. So with that said is it worth getting a Pro? Or should I wait until the 2020 comes out to get the OR when the Voodoo Blue gets passed down to the rest of the range?

I do like the exterior Pro features so I would add them independently on the OR if I got it although my local dealer puts Pro exterior parts on non Pros. I just want direct opinions comparing specifically the MT Pro and OR.

I'm not considering a Sport because I like the double skid plates, rear locker and A-Trac that the OR does offer.

See what kind of price they offer to sell you a current Pro for to see if its worth it to you.

I was told by a friend who works at a Toyota dealer that he said generally the Pro colors get offered on the OR the next year when the Pro gets new colors like how Cavalry Blue was on last year Pros.

Again just what I was told and it could be wrong.

wait for the OR and try to pick up the pro parts you like used, you will see lots of stuff come up for sale on this forum.

If money we're no object I'd get the Pro for the seats and looks. But the OR is equally capable and costs way less.

I ordered a Voodoo Blue PRO 6spd MT for the same reasons you are talking about. I like the CAV blue but man after seeing the Voodoo in person I was 100% sold!

Voodoo Blue may be passed down but it is not guaranteed. It is a love it or hate it color. That said you will be able to buy them used in 2020 for cheaper than you can get them now. Do you want the truck NOW or in a year? Is it worth it to you to drop the cash now or are you willing to wait? If it were me and I was willing to wait (Which I am not) I would wait till there are some of the Pros used and available in a year or two and buy one then.

Well for me it isn't about how bad I want one. I can wait though. I'm not obsessed about it but if I'm dropping this much cash it will be exactly as I want it.

My question I guess is the manual Pro really worth it over a manual Off-Road? If I was buying an automatic then totally I would get a Pro because the MTS and Crawl Control make it worth it but losing both with the manual.

Sure you get A-trac but you get that with the OR too.

I op for the offroad equally capable with pro ,and it should be priced less. I guess it depends on your intentions for the truck. If your buying for looks than I can see why you might want the pro. If you use the truck for off roading I would prefer not to have the crawl control.

    Workin' on it....
The grill and the leather seats are really the only thing you are getting with the pro if you plan on swapping all of the suspension components out anyway. You can easily put a Pro grille on an OR so I guess the question is how much of a premium do you want to pay for factory leather seats over say Katzkin’s....?

Nah. They're the same truck minus some styling differences and the suspension. Since you're planning to swap out the shocks anyway, no need to go Pro.

For me this was an easy answer, Yes it is if you want all the pro has to offer AS IS... If you are replacing suspension and putting on "35s" and all that then probably not.

My pro will remain pretty much stock suspension wise. I also like the PRO "stuff" such as: COLOR (this was a big one for me), grill, badging, seats, exhaust, suspension, wheels (tires are not my first choice on the pro and when I DO replace tires I will also sell off my 16" pro wheels and get some 17" Pro "SEMA" wheels.)

Could I build an off road to be AS GOOD as a pro for the same money? Kind of, but I would have to build it, and it would never be a "TRD Pro"... and that build may or may not ever happen given my current busy schedule. Also I wouldn't get the color I want at least not for a year or two at best...

I like the TRD PRO seats
I like the TRD PRO suspension
I like the TRD PRO exhaust
I like the TRD PRO grill
I LOVE the TRD PRO COLOR

but most of all I like that it all came on the TRD PRO truck and I didn't have to order parts, install parts, have parts installed or anything to have it just like I wanted it right off the showroom floor.

If you want to do full build out on a brand new truck the pro is probably not for you. The only thing TRD PRO I plan on replacing is the wheels and tires (with TRD PRO equipment from a 4 runner which arguably should have been used in the first place ;)) the rest of my mod list is just enhancing the truck.

Ah.....must be different then from the second gens because you couldn’t get the leather seats in the OR.

Pros look cool no doubt! That's why I will add the exterior bits to it and the 4Runner Pro wheels but I have no attachment to the "Pro" name itself. It's just another trim level to me. It would never be a "real Pro" and I'm quite fine with that.

I'm leaning more towards waiting on the OR but I only hope Toyota maintains the trend from the past 4 years of passing down Pro colors to the rest of the range the next year. If not I'm really screwed lol.

So there is your answer! If you don't care about it being a pro (for me this was a resale value thing, and I am a bit of a purest) and don't care about waiting for the color (I didn't want to wait) then wait and hopefully for you they bring the color to the OR.

You wouldn't really be screwed cause you can just buy a used one at that point. (though a used MT in that color will probably be hard to find in good condition)
