Slow cooked goat curry! Made a cauliflower thing as well.

Huge burger for lunch on Sunday:


Monday was my son's birthday, so we went out to an awesome restaurant in Tampa. I had a ribeye.:


Today is my birthday, so I chose to stay home and grill my own dinner. Lamb chops, brats, grilled sandwich and beet salad:

 

Stuffed pork chops into the oven.

 

Where in Tampa did you go to get that steak? Happy belated to both of you.

Had a fish fry at work. Homade hush puppies and crappie filets

 

The menus look good. I might have to check that out. Food is pretty good?

 

Forgive me but what is a hush puppie? Like what constitutes a hush puppie?

Like what is the batter? Does it have stuff in it?

deep fried corn meal ball. Usually has salt/pepper, onion. Usually as a side to fish, in place of or with fries. Typically a southern staple..Texas--->east

 

So its corn bread batter.

I know it might sound odd but I think I may have only had them once. I didnt know if it was like left over fish batter or what.

 

It is a mandatory item in any catfish place. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to make haste to a fried catfish joint STAT!

 

not really batter, just a side. Not really cornbread "muffin". Just a deep fried corn bread ball.

I saw @DubfromGA makin something like hush puppies with shrimp or something awhile back. Looks tasty.

What fryers do you guys use?
Or just a dutch oven with a thermometer?

 

I usu a Cabela's fryer for small stuff. Otherwise a big fryer and thermometer for cooking for a crowd.

 

Yeah we use a frydaddy or some kind of knock off deep fryer. I actually added a little bit of sr flour to this batch and it produced a much smoother exterior. I did 3 cup corn meal 1 cup flour and then I added chili powder and Cajun seasoning and black pepper and some of this and some of that till it tasted good and pulled a cup or so out to batter the fish in (not beer batter obviously just a dry batter) and then diced up a few jalapenos and added milk till it looked like wet sand and dropped spoon fills into hot oil till gold and so on and so forth and what have you

 

I used a fry daddy for the first time this summer after a fishing trip with trout.
Since then I’ve wanted to fry more things.

 

Yes, really good. My family wants to go back.
