What's funny is that in Canada we have the same issues surrounding 100k but it's 100k km not miles. Exact same issues as far as price, financing and desirability but 100k km is only ~62k Miles.

The worst example of this that I know of, in 2014 RAM in the US had a 5yr/100k Miles powertrain warranty and in Canada the exact same truck came with a 5yr/100k km powertrain warranty.

Navy fed gave me a 4% loan on a 14 year old car with 175k miles... just sayin’.

Agreed with you on keeping it . Unless it has a turbo on it (having owned 3 Subaru’s, two NA, one Turbo, they can’t figure out a reliable FI), the car is gonna last a long, long time. Tell her to keep it, OP!

That is highly dependent on model and year. I know plenty of people who have spent small fortunes keeping their Subaru running. Of course its still running but the costs to replace head gaskets, clutches, etc adds up to quite a bit if your not doing the work yourself.

Yes 100K matters, if you are buying a GM, or a turbo'ed car.

    Otherwise no.

I was gonna say it could make a difference if there is a significant service due at 100k

And also for some banks giving loans, not sure on that but I'd think they'd be more willing to give a loan for a car with under 100k, and maybe at a better rate.

While what you are saying may be true. It doesn't change the value of the vehicle nor is it an arbitrary $1,000 is the car rolls over another couple miles. It's still a dealer making up bull shit. Nobody would be saying that about a Tacoma. And Subaru's have darn near the resale value retention of a Tacoma.

Also I didn't understand so many people financed 100K mile vehicles. That's quite sad.

That maybe the case for most vehicles, but its exactly why we love our Tacoma is that at 100k people are still paying 22-25k so its not unreasonable to finance at that price. A kia with 100k not so much. Haha

7k and change left! Got 1.79% with my credit union so I'm not in too big of a hurry to pay it off.

I'm amazed you put that many miles on a vehicle when you live on an island!
