I cut the green wire and made sure it did not inadvertently short back together. I mounted it with the wires facing back like the picture and everything was displaying correctly.

On the other end of the black 4 pin connection from the camera I have the red wire taped off and the black wire grounded to one of the screws that holds one of the horns. I would start there...:fingerscrossed:

BTW that box with the smaller box on the upper right is the RCA plug that goes routed into the cab behind the head unit.

Nice diagram. I figured out my camera is supposed to be installed wires “up” for correct image so now im looking for camera with wires “back” as shown in your diagram. On a side note, i used the red/black power wire as the power and ground and did not use the red wire coming from rca. Im not sure what difference there is besides the fact that my camera is always on instead of just on when i flip the switch. Would this difference have anything to do with the upside down image?or anything to do with orientation at all? Green wire only mirrors the image and not flip it. Could you tell me which camera you used

I bought the Chuanganzhuo camera in this thread a few days ago. I initially made the mistake of buying a different camera at first because I only saw the Chuanganzhuo camera mounted wires up and I needed on that worked mounted wires back.

After realizing I bought a rear view only camera I read through this thread again. I noticed that the OP posted a solution to my problem further down in the thread - the picture of him holding it with the wires back - so I immediately ordered the Chuanganzhuo camera. I bench tested it and saw that with the green wire cut and holding it with the wires back - how I needed it - it worked just fine with the correct view - non mirrored or upside down. All I did was cut the green wire loop and mount it in my grill with the wires toward the back. I did note in my drawing that I have the black of the camera loom grounded to the horn bolt near the front grill. I thought that this may be a factor in solving your problem... but not sure. I can say for sure that the Chuanganzhuo camera worked as I need it to.

I didn't want the camera on ALL THE TIME so I hooked the red wire on the RCA end to my selector switch - see previous posts - so that it's only on when I need it - may help it last longer . Make sure you tape that up at the RCA end cause it will have 12 volts on it since it's essentially the same wire as the red wire on the red/black pair you hooked up.

    Hope this helps:fingerscrossed:

I will have a spot for it soon. I saw what others were doing and I'll resort to that if this idea doesn't work out. Just wanted to make sure switch worked.

I went up to the high sierras this past weekend and used the front camera the whole time on the trail. When you have 3 tight turns in a row it can be difficult to keep track of every high-centered rock and it added a level of comfort going up a tight turn when all you see is hood. Helped me get here :)

Tacos have different size OEM switches, for example under the A/C controls are smaller than some under the cubby left of the steering wheel. Best advice is measure in metric before ordering

Yeah the ones under the heat controls look more square - shorter but fatter. Whatever switch I end up with, this mod is gonna be SWEET

Sry, I was out of town and then when I wanted to respond, I realized this would be easier with a picture. So here ya go. Everyone, feel free to correct me if anything is wrong and I'll update.

When I talk about bottom 4 pins being connected, this is only true in this wiring setup. Since it is a DPDT On-Off-On switch, the left side and right side of the switch are separate. However, since we are running the hot to both of the middle pins, they are, in effect, all connected together based on switch position. Sorry for the poor electrical explanation.

You can test your camera before installing the switch by temporarily connecting the following:
Rear: Black from Harness, Red from Harness
Front: Black from Harness, Red from Harness, Red from Relay

Since you are working with DC, you can just pinch them together with your finger/thumb. Test Rear first. If the test is successful, move on to splitting the Black from the Harness so it can connect to the two middle pins and then do the same with the Red from the harness.

No offense but this is still confusing. Im guessing the “aux video harness” is the rear overude harness as they label it on thier website? I got it working but i used the power wires right from the camera and not the red wire connected to the rca cabke which means the camera is always hot.

I am having one small issue, which im hopung someone can chime in on. Everything works fine, but when i switch from front camera to off, it always give me a split second of reverse cam before it turns off. Any idea why this is happening or how to correct?
