Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

So after reflashing with the 1.04 my mpg went from 12.5 back up to 15.3. Drives soooo much better now, I am going to do the negative side battery disconnect about once every 2 months now if It keeps the tune fresh like this.

 

It gets really good at 200 miles that seems to be the sweet spot.

 

WIth the amount of people saying the learning is back im surprised there has been no comment about it from Matt... i guess theres not much you can say when you already said you disabled it

 

Lived there 23 years. Escaped to retirement in New Mexico in 2013 - the Land of Enchantment or is it entrapment.

 

Starting to lose hope that I'll get that email from OVTune today... So frickin' depressing. It won't do me any good, but I think they need a better system in the future just to get people registered and such. Easy to arm-chair quarterback though I suppose.

 

I've been waiting 5 days now since I bought it. Guess that's what I get for buying right before a holiday weekend. Already got reg key just waiting for flash files. I want to try 1.04r before I go to 1.05

 

I know Matt had posted earlier today that they had lost power there and he was gonna try to get to emails tonight.

 

He said "afternoon", hence why I'm losing hope

 

He seems like a logical person, one who wont give an answer unless they are 100% certain. Maybe he is still looking into it, or maybe the 1.05 has the permanent fix? Either way its not that big of a deal to reset the ECU every other month or so lol.

 

I believe it’s the company that handles the software registration, not OVTune

I thought OVTune was the company? Or do you mean the handle on here at TW? I had inferred that he had other people working with/for him

 

He has a software guy who is on vacation right now if I remember.

 

Until the 14th or something I think

 

He doesn't produce the system that creates the registration keys for his software.

 

Registry keys come from another country.

 

Oh god I started it again...
you only have to get a tsb done if you have an older ecu like 04B00 or 04B01 because the tune doesn’t support those old ecus

 

Just got my 1.04r files from Matt. Can't wait to get off work.

 

Oh me of little faith... JUST GOT MY FILES, WAAHOOOO!!!!

Now for the questions.... I re-read the instructions multiple times, but I'm still confused; I plugged everything in, flashed the 91 octane file (ECU flash, right?), and everything went great. However, instructions say to then flash the TCU file, which I can't find. The instructions make it sound like the truck shouldn't start if something went wrong, but she fired right up after the initial flash said "Successful". Am I missing anything, or is it good to go? Currently idling in the driveway, even though there aren't any instructions to do so in the literature I was sent.

Edit: NEVERMIND! I re-read the instructions, not the email from Mat himself. If anyone else misses it like I did- "The TCU changes are also within these files so you can skip the second part about flashing a second file."
