Ended up camping in white rock the first night and by Lake Wedington the second night. White Rock was awesome, Wedington was close to Fayetteville. Would love to grab a beer and meet some of you guys this weekend.

Salem huh, thats my back yard, I'm close to Avilla. And come on, more the merrier, but we do require out of state folks to call the hogs to be eligible.

any fly fisher dudes on here? I've been fishing the little red and spring river a lot this last year. Didn't know if anyone would want to meet up for an occasional day trip or add a wheeling trip in there.

I'm over in y'all's neck of the woods more than i'm over by the nashville and east TN guys. can't believe i haven't been in this thread before.

I'd love to learn but I rarely have time. My father in law gave me an old rod to practice. I used in the yard a few times and got some funny looks from the neighbors. Good times.

White and Roaring River are like shooting trout in of a barrel. I went a lot last spring
It’s definitely a lot more fun than the 50cc scooters everyone else has, but it’s smaller in physical size so it blends in nicely. Kinda scary when you really wind it out though, because the wheels are small

    Yeah.
I've only used flies with a bubble up on CO reservoirs in the evenings. Not real fly fishing, I know. Most of my stream fishing has been smaller mountain streams with no room for a fly rod. Like Lee, I would love to eventually learn -- but thinking that might be a retirement thing.

I don't go to the white that much (it's further away and i don't have a boat for when they generate)

Spring River is my favorite. No generation. A lot less crowded. Quality fish. Etc.

it's actually not that bad to learn. It can be pretty simple and as complex as you want it to be. I'm 33 and have been doing it for a couple of years. I'm no master by any means. I just enjoy being on the water.

Best thing to do is go with a guide. They can easily show you the ins and outs, what to look for, what and how to fish certain flies, etc

My only fly fishing experience was similar and in CO. A lot of fun though.

I took my kayak out to the Spring River off from Hardy last winter and caught a stud rainbow. It was a good bit of fun. Being out in the kayak gave me a little more flexibility compared to my buddies in waders. But...when a beaver came up and slapped the water next to my boat, I did wish I wasn't tied off to the bank.
