I personally recommend doing the Petra bounties first because they will give you the highest power level boost. Everything else will be exactly as you described and you will have to hope that the item you get is the item you need to up your power level to your character level.

 

Went into the raid last night and never wiped once. Made it to Riven in about 45 mins just kind of fucking around looking for chests.

Came out with a bunch of good loot.

Here's where it gets good. Got the curated roll from Bungie for the Transfiguration masterworked at 10



Second curated roll from Bungie for the Age-Old Bond



Non curated roll for the Nation of Beasts (which I really want the curated roll since it's the Fatebringer roll). It has a really good roll on it anyway.



And the Chest Piece which is perfect for what I use it for



We'll finish Riven off on Friday.

 

Again like I said... It goes off of your total character of 561. It can be + or - 1 on those drops. The only high level drops that will truly boost your power level are Petras weekly bounties, the raid, Prime engrams, and the occasional exotic.

 

All the weekly stuff that is not Petras bounties and the other things I mentioned will most likely not help you much unless you get lucky and get a drop that you actually need. Whether that be a weapon that you can infuse or an armor piece that you need. Then it will bring that piece up to your total character level. If you don't get lucky then you just wasted doing those lower tier things and they won't help you once you get to the level you are now.

 

Its sad how much armor and weapons are constantly junked due to worrying about constantly leveling. In a way, made you not appreciate most of the crap you would get in a drop as you know its temporary unless you got a sick roll or exotic.

 

That's why I keeping the Nation of the Beast until I can get the curated roll. It's a good roll as it is. They are supposed to fix scout rifles next week so I'll hold on to the one I got last night as it will be a god once it is fixed. I never delete anything until I see the rolls on it. You never know what might actually be a god roll. No more just dismantling items anymore which I like.

 

That's right...I forget my OG ass once again wasn't around for the needed updates that made things silly in my day worth something now.

 

Aye that sucks man, you can still get some sort of glimmer or currency for all those steeds right?

Also, I don’t see a single freakin reason to play crucible unless your LL 6 billion. I get killed in 1 hit and it takes me 2 magazines of 36 to kill a single person! I hate it. 321 stands no chance in there. Takes the fun out of it. I had the same issue with D1 until I got near maxing of LL for it. I’m not the greatest at it but still, I get 1-2 kills per match and die 10-15 times. I’m better off to a team just trying to stay alive and not hunt people haha

Not on PS4. But it happens every now and then. I got booted a couple of times yesterday but nothing major. Gambit seems to be the most unstable right now. After a match it's almost inevitable that one or two of us will get disconnected from our fireteam. So we just join back up. That seems to be the only real issue right now.

 

Ummm... level advantages are turned off in crucible. So it doesn't matter what level you are. Your guns do just as much damage as everyone else's. So it's not other peoples guns doing more damage to you because you do just as much damage to them. The only time level advantages are active right now is Iron Banner and when Trials returns. So once again... your weapons do just as much damage as someone that is 600 power level.

 

So there are two things you can do. Get better weapons and get good. Practice, practice, practice. You're just getting outplayed right now. If it takes you two mags of 36 to kill someone your missing almost all your shots.

 

Nah I gotcha. Little bit of hyperbole there but it’s frustrating when 1-2 shots with a pistol or shotgun kills me and I spent almost a mag on the person and they have a cm of life left.

I still don’t 100% agree it’s evenly matched though. I think 98% maybe haha I get the weapons are “equal”.....but some pigs are more equal than others

 

Well... hand cannons are three taps now. Shotguns you have to learn to counteract them. Radar is your friend. If you know someone is coming down a hall try to anticipate how long it will take them to get to you. Most shotguns have a 10 meter range give or take. If you are trying to go up against a rushing shotgunner with a primary like a pulse / auto you will lose every time if they close the gap. So you are just going to have to practice. Sidearms are a good counter but if someone is rushing you, you will have to back peddle to stay out of range.

One other thing that I always do is I'll set down behind a wall at a corner and see who is coming and wait until they get close and shotgun the shit out of them. PvP is dynamic. You CANNOT stay on the ground and expect to win battles. Use your vertical space. Never go around a corner on foot. Either slide around the corner or be in the air. Most won't be expecting it (especially snipers). There is a lot to learn in PvP to be effective. It just takes time and practice. PvP is about all I play.

 

If you are 321 you have access to weapons that can compete in crucible. You just need to find the ones that fit your playstyle. Pulse rifles are pretty much the meta right now for medium distances and sidearms / shotguns for close up battles. I use many different loadouts while playing depending on the map. Longer maps... Sniper / hand cannon. Medium maps... Pulse rifles and shotguns, sidearms, or hand cannons. Your heavy can be whatever you feel comfortable with.
