Vibration while driving....anyone else experiencing or have an idea what it is?

In the last week or so I have noticed a repeating vibration. I can feel it in the car and i can hear it almost like the sound of knobby mud tires but it isn't constant. I typically only notice between speeds of 10mph-45mph. It doesn't seem to really speed up or slow down with vehicle speed and its possible I just can't feel or hear it outside of these speeds. I have the truck lifted with the Toytec boss basic lift and 33's but that was about 4,500 miles ago and this just started in the last week or so. The knobby mud tires create a hum and slight vibration but this I can tell is in addition to that. It tends to be the worst as I first get in the truck and sometimes seems to go away entirely after having driven on the highway or at higher speeds. Once I slow back down it is not as noticeable. My hunch is it's drive train related but I just don't know. I do not believe it has anything to do with the breaks so just seeing if anyone has experienced and knows what it would be.

 

i know this sounds obvious.. but have you tried getting your tired balanced?
could also check the carrier bearing.

 

Maybe some flat spots in your tires. Happens a lot with new tires since they use softer compounds

 

Check the drivers side cv shaft
Alot of play in the stock needle bearing
My local shop was shocked at how bad it was before i put my lift in and the ecgs bushing
Had a small vibration in the wheel
now i dont feel the vibration at all

 

This is the most likely. Confirm by seeing if it goes away in 4HI.

I've got my 2018 2 wheel drive at the dealership right now for a Toyota field tech to look at for this. It's unusually bad at 42mph in 5th gear with a slight incline and braking through 20mph. 3 attempts by the dealership and the second two they said it's supposed to it..... We'll see what this guy says...

 

Officially from Toyota after looked at by a field technician (Not a dealership tech)- It's working as it's supposed to. I asked if he was saying it's working as it works, or SPECIFICALLY that it is SUPPOSED to shake the whole truck rather than down shifting. The service manager said IT'S SUPPOSED TO SHAKE RATHER THAN DOWN SHIFTING.... SMH.......

 

Lawfarin- soft spots? i just got some new tires and they were quiet for 3 days. now they have this undulating hum at around 15-40 mph. you think soft spots?

 

Took the truck to the dealership and they won’t even look at it because of the lift. F*#k Mountain States Toyota. I only say that because I was told this exact thing would not happen when I bought the truck knowing full well that I would be lifting it.

Anyhow. Looking for more input. I really don’t think it has anything to do with the tires because it DOES go away as soon as I shift into 4Hi. The sound is most noticeable when the truck is cold and will go away almost completely once I have been driving for 15-20 mins or so. It’s this repeating vibration/humming sound and above 50 it’s hard to hear but that may be the tires drowning it out. Checked the CV shafts and they don’t seem loose but I don’t know how much play is normal. I’m wondering if it could be a bearing issue or maybe the CV. Any thoughts? Appreciate the input.

I changed my needle bearing and put axle shims in the rear to eliminate my vibes. Couple months later had vibes again. Noticed some weights missing on my front wheels. Hd them re balanced and rotated.
Vibes gone again.

The needle bearing is at the end of the cv and it sounds like a slight rumble strip vibration. You should changebit with ecgs to narrow it down

 

Needle bearing . I had the issue @ 2k miles an it was exactly as U describe in this post . Order the bushing an change ... GL

 

Finally replaced the needle bearing. Sound and vibration is gone. Appreciate everyone’s input.
