Yes, it works very well for getting more low end torque. Im been debating that myself, but i think im going to go with 5.29 just because of all the extra weight. Prolly somewhere around 2 - 2500 range for both. You do the pull the diffs yourself would be a lil cheaper.

 

4WP stores will do it for 1000 labor plus whatever parts cost and you bring the truck in and drop it off.
ECGS wiil regear for about 1500 total if you ship the diffs to them.

these are just base numbers, there's a few options such as lockers that will change costs

if you go auto 5.29 is manageable, if manual probably 4.88, but most manuals don't regear at 35's, the manual crowd says stock is manageable at that size, but offroad people regear just for ease of use. most autos want to regear at 33s.

Tune will be 700.

Yes, sitting at Mission Control Center Moscow right now. It has been exciting. Waiting for some video of the Astronauts returning to Baikonur and an interview with the NASA administrator before we can pack up and head back to town. They say the 2nd day is bad for jet lag, but with all the excitement, it hasn't hit me yet.

 

IMO it doesn't get much better than Sweetwater Lake. Take a kayak or flat bottom and go to the opposite shore of the parking area. There is a fire pit just up the hill.

Cheaha Falls is a nice spot too. You can camp right next to the waterfall. You will have to leave your truck and walk about 0.25 miles to the spot.

@stronghammer you installed those gears yet? I'm about to start looking in to gears for my truck. I think the new tires are slightly heavier than my 255s were and I can feel it.

 

frick no....I haven't had any time, been so covered up with crap. I may get some time this weekend but not sure I have the know how to reinstall it all by myself, would like someone that KNOWS along...

 

I don't know anything about installing diffs but I'd be more than happy to figure it out with you. I've got drill this weekend, but any other time I could pop over.

 

I'm pretty sure I can do most of it, just want to make sure. Haven't been able to find a good write up on reinstalling everything on here. Also just want to make sure I've got all the stuff I need to replace while I'm at it.

I'll let you know when I plan to actually do anything to it.

Definitely document it if you can. Isn't it really just plopping it in the axle housing and sliding the axles back in then tightening it all up?

 

basically. I just want to make sure I'm getting all the seals and parts installed properly.
