    Stuff. Also things.
Speaking of chains, do you guys have any type/brand recommendations for these trucks that would cover snow wheeling as well? I grew up in the desert, so I’m completely inexperienced with what works best and what doesn’t.

I have a front wheel drive grocery-getter/kid-hauler and an AWD daily as well, so I’m almost covering the gamut of use cases. Hopefully, I can get all the vehicles set up and get some installation practice done before it gets too crazy this winter. I feel like we’re due for a big one this year...

    Thanks in advance!

I used to use this same concept on my bicycles in college for getting to class in Vermont. That was 4 looooong winters without a car.

Those are legal per the CSP. I've seen them do ok snow wheeling but nothing like real link chains for traction.

I've had much better luck with studless snow tires than studded. Was not impressed with a set of ipikes I had. I think the trick is the rubber compound and tons of sipping. Also means they'll go bald in a month if you run them in the heat of summer. My understanding of Blizzaks is that the first half is way softer than the second in order to produce a reasonable tread life, haven't ever owned a set.

I had a set of Yokohama IceGuards on the subi and it was incredible how well it performed on the ice and snow.

Had a set of BFG winter slalom on the truck when I was DDing it up here, and it did pretty well for what it was.

The blizzaks I had on the accord were freaking amazing! If it was light snow and icy I preferred driving the car over the Tacoma with cooper stmaxx tires.

I hate studded tires. If folks in Ontario can get by without them because they're illegal there, Colorado can get by without them. I've got a neighbor that rocks studs year round. Every time I hear the clickety click of them coming up the street, I wish I could throw some tire spikes in front of their car.

I've had Nokians on the Saab and Volvo, and Michelin IceX on the RX8 and FoST. All of those have worked well for me.

Nokian Hakkapeliittas on the old Volvos was my choice back east. Even used them in the non-studded class for ice racing.

I realize they do have a place. But metro area on your Subaru, Acura, Lexus, etc, ain't one of em. I'm guessing not one of those drivers takes them into a nasty area. The gnarliest place they hit is potentially a ski resort parking lot.

Get a Fumoto drain valve while you're at it.

I did that already, this will actually be my 2nd oil change I'm doing. Was nervous with the Fumoto hanging down without a proper skid, but that's taken care of now.
