Bed Lighting

For those of you that have installed the Tundra style bed lighting, what pros and cons do you have?
I like the OEM look to them and I am interested in installing. Are they bright enough?

 

They don’t provide a tremendous amount of light but it’s good enough in my six foot bed. And they are a bit pricey for what you get.
I like the stock look of the lights. Installation was not too difficult.

 

Just get 1-2 off these, take off the strap and mount them in the bed anywhere you want. No wiring needed and they’re a lot brighter and cheaper

You can get more expensive ones that charge via USB and are up to 350 lumens, also great for working under the truck, engine, etc.

 

Just buy some Amazon water proof led strips and wire them up under your bed rails.

Can get them for $2 bucks. Kinda ghetto, but they work.

 

I have a couple of those, but I now prefer these. The hook gives them more versatility. They regularly have a coupon for getting one free with any purchase... so just go find something for like 25 cents

 

LOL, I had some more expensive Sylvania LED touch lights or whatever they call them, one longer and one round puck style, in the back of my truck. When they finally started failing (after getting dropped and then the batteries leaked in the longer version) I stuck a couple of those HF freebies in the back. Plenty bright enough and best of all- free with any purchase using a coupon! My last one I got free with the purchase of .89 cents worth of heat shrink tubing. I've got one hanging by its hook and one that I put heavy duty Velcro on the back and a piece of red film over the lenses and stuck to the shell's carpet liner. The magnet on the back has come in handy once or twice as well. There are a couple of other flashlights in my truck though including a Black Diamond headlamp.

I really like the looks of those Tundra bed lights though, very slick looking, just not as practical when you have a camping setup in the back. I like the LED rope lighting some guys have used as well, also very cool looking!

Here's a really cheap and simple solution that has been working for me.

$22 Stick On Cabinet Light,Under Counter Lighting, Motion Sensor, 10 LED Wireless USB Rechargeable Kitchen Battery Operated for Wardrobe,Closets,Cupboard,Warm White-2Pack

USB rechargeable, motion sensing closet lights. I use these all over the house and recently installed them in the truck bed. They put out enough light, turn on and off automatically with motion or can be switched on/off as needed, and the batteries last months between recharges with normal use. The only caveat is that they need to be positioned so that they aren't detecting motion when driving around but that's not a problem if you have any kind of cap or tonneau. I've got a BedRug liner so I put some velcro on the back of the light and can easily reposition them. I want to tap the bed outlet to install a usb recharging port so that when the battery does eventually die they can be charged in place but for now I just keep two of them installed and one set turned off, when the battery dies I'll switch on the backup while the other recharges.
