About 2 months ago I purchased a Springfield Armory XD .45 Compact. Absolutly love this gun..

    mms_picture-9_fc5fb209cc4dc8b90185bd00657df51bb225e3bc.jpg

Im new to handguns and every time I have shot friends' pistols I have always been all over the target. The 1st magazine I put through this baby I was grouping 6" at about 15'. I know thats not that great for most of you but it was for me. I am now putting out 4" groups at 20' and am happy with that with the amount of time Ive been shooting.

Today I ordered a 5.11 Tactical leather casual 1.5" belt and a Blackhawk CQC Serpa holster.

    http://www.lapolicegear.com/blcqcsehomaf.html

    http://www.lapolicegear.com/511-tactical-59502-closeout.html

I am very excited bout my order this morning and had to share :D

This particular holster will be mainly used on our property and "out of town" areas. I will be ordering a Crossbread SuperTuck eventually but am letting myself get a little more used to this handgun before getting into carrying all the time. (I am very knowledgeable on rifles and shotguns and have been shooting, competing and hunting since I can remember but not gonna "jump the gun" and act like i know everything about pistols) Im trying to be as responsible and careful as possible!

some of this, a little of that
Very nice, my dad bought one just like it last year. It is fun to shoot and easy to conceal. I am really considering getting one myself later. Did you have a hard time finding one, around here it took over a month to get ahold of one.

I paid $600 out the door at a local outfitter store here in town. I know I could have gotten it cheaper online or somewhere else, but I like the fact that I know these people and go hunting with them and feel like if I ever had a problem they would give me much more help than some other place

It took them about 2 business days to get it in after I ordered it. No wait at all

    I'll update soon
You can't go wrong with an XD.. I like how they have put the new serrated edges on the front of the slide with the newer models. I would have bought an XD last year if it wasn't for my roommate getting their Sub Compact version(Bad mamma jamma).. So, I went with Beretta's new PX-4 Storm .40 Cal instead. I'm prior Military and have always loved the accuracy of Beretta's. The Storm has tritium sites and a whole new look. I'll be posting photo's soon. I also mounted Surefire's X300 to it. It's great for home protection. It will blind the shit out of an trespasser. This is my 2nd Surefire light. I love their products. A little spendy, but well worth the money.

    None, yet
4" groups at 20' for defense will get the job done!!
Here in NV, at my CCW training the rule is 7 yards for defensive shooting. To be a threat that justifies shooting/ deadly force, an attacker has to be within 7 yards, otherwise they are not an "immediate" threat. Putting your rounds inside 4" at 20 feet should stop a bad guy.
I bought my son an XD 45 for his 21st last year, and just picked up a Taurus 24/7 OSS .45 for myself. Happy shooting!

I know its good enough but it can always be better... Im pretty competitive and wont be happy till its perfect lol. Guess its just my personality

Ive been looking into doing some competitive shooting. IDPA matches looks like a load of fun, theres so much to learn and I have heard that everyone that usually attends the events will bend over backwards to help a noob like me. So Ima keep researching and look deeper into trying that out at some point.

I just renewed my Concealed Carry Permit, I need something like this, my Ruger P95 is way too big, let me know how you like it.

Besides the size, how do you like the P95? I've got a chance to buy one with 2 10 round clips, a holster, and a case. It's only had 3 clips put through it. I've been looking for something to just keep in the truck or somethin like that.

It's a great pistol, I read the article in some gun mag when it came out, first synthetic frame Ruger produced, they shot 50,000 rounds of +P ammo through it with no problems, and in my truck is where I keep mine.(when i'm in it) Mine is the P95DC (DE-Cocker) The only thing that bothers me is I shot better with my friends Glock 9mm, I need to shoot more often than I do, but as far as reliability, sturdyness it's a great choice, but not so much for a concealed carry weapon. And if you get it, avoid aftermarket magazines, I bought a 15 round mag for it and it didnt want to feed the last 2 or 3 rounds, pop in a factory 10 round mag and you can shoot all day long with no problem.
