Finally a fix from Toyota for Stumble condition (TSB 0062-18)

Awesome, I can try them next. What did you tell them exactly?

 

Took mine in for general throttle response and shift point issues a few months ago. Service manager told me an update was applied, but my paperwork didn't list a particular TSB number and no sticker was applied under the hood. Shift points were much improved but throttle response issues are returning.

Didn't have any 40 to 50 mph surge issues before the TSB, but now I do...and that is the issue that 58-18 is supposed to correct. Go figure.

Had it back in earlier this week for hesitation/stumble issues. Service manager verified that 58-18 was in fact applied, but I didn't see the calibration. That was right before their tech went for a ride with me and then told me the hesitation/stumble is normal. So I just left. Done with that place.

 

That I was having problems with stumble and shifting. I mentioned a couple trips to Tahoe and how it was much worse. Explained to them it’s hard to replicate around here but would like them to install for me. Done deal

 

i know i have the 4 banger but i deal with the dead spot in the pedal and it constantly hunting for gears, and clumsiness between 45-70, went in for my 5k maintenance service and my rep had told me that there isn't anything out for the 4 cylinders yet unfortunately... soo if you have this issue make it known to the dealerships so hopefully something can be done!!!

 

Had them update mine today. No problem having them do it except they kept the damn thing half the day to do a 10 minute job lol.

 

Had it done a couple of weeks ago at Toyota of San Diego. Definite improvement. The transmission feels much smoother.

 

Where did you have yours done? Don't tell me City Toyota?

 

Had mine done last week. Service manager agreed to install 0062-18, but after evaluation the service tech decided that TSB 0119-18 would be more appropriate. Service notes say:
"Verified out of date software programming for transmission electronic control unit. Transmission fluid level is good. Performed ECM software update per TSB 0119-18. OP code EG1817 04/74 (0.4)"

The truck does indeed seem more responsive but I can't find any more information on this TSB. Anyone have a similar experience?

 

It was mentioned a little while back, this is yet another TSB but the file you get is the same as the 0062/58. It's supposed to address surging when moving the steering wheel while in park or not in motion.

Does the latest TSB apply to the newly released LIMITED trim Tacoma?

Just bought the 2019 Tacoma Limited yesterday.

 

We honestly dont know. You would need to get the calibration Id from a code reader (obdII)

 

Well I’m headed back to dealership on Saturday to get the PermaPlate done so I’ll ask service dept then about the TSB. Will add another reply after I get some more information.

 

It's been a few weeks with the TSB complete and I've driven probably almost 1500 miles. I'd have to say, either I'm getting used to the TSB or this adaptive learning transmission thing everyone talks about is learning itself back to what it was before the TSB update. If this is the case, my driving style is impeded by the type of roads I drive and the traffic I see on a daily basis. While gear hunting isn't quite as prominent, and down shifting doesn't shift 2 gears lower as it used to feel, it feels as if it is beginning to hunt gears slightly more than when first updated. I almost have to keep a constant heavy foot in order for the truck to stay in gear but this means constant MPH climbing. If not, the truck automatically shifts into a cruising gear.

Secondly, today was my first real experience with the slow down shifting again. I tried to merge into another lane, slammed the gas pedal, and the truck gave me what felt like a sluggish down shift. Almost didn't make it into traffic.

Is anyone experiencing this as well? The truck felt great the first couple weeks. It still feels better than original ECU flash. But it's learning it's way back so it feels.

 

Disconnect the battery for 30 mins and see if it gets better.

That should reset the learning and you will be able to see how much of a difference it makes.

 

I feel your pain. Mine is doing the same thing.

 

Fortunately I got the tsb for a hesitation that it fixed. I also never had too many complaints about the shifting. I'm still getting ridiculous mpg post tsb. I just got my highest tank average ever at my last fill up. On winter gas too.

I don't notice too much of a difference in shifting on either side of the tsb.

 

Looking back I wish I had driven more aggressively for the first 3 tanks or so post TSB. I drive for economy and I think my truck picked the stumble back up because of that. My dealer says mine willl always do this unless I drive it more aggressively.

 

Disconnect the battery and start over lol.
