    Dad got new tv tubes at the hardware store, the use of tester was free. Mom would take the toaster to get repaired at Detroit Edison. My mom and I would ride the bus to go shopping and run errands. If you saw a lady on the bus carrying a toaster today you would think she is nuts. Nobody was a 2 car family.

    My dad was a WW 2 vet, landed in France three days after D-Day, the water was still red in color. He use to say if your gonna go, you go all the way or don’t go. I think he knew how high the cost really was. He understood why people were against Vietnam War.

    My dad was Navy Corpsman in WWII. I highly recommend Ken Burns Vietnam documentary if you have not seen it.
