What roll up bed cover are you using that didn't break the bank?

Really want a roll up cover that won't break the bank. Have seen the Tyger and read some decent reviews.

I got Truxedo truxport?? under $300 about 4 months ago.
It's been raining here almost every day and it is holding up nicely.
Not quite watertight, there is a gap under front corners that I need to seal.

 

I've been torn between a Softopper and a fiberglass cab-height topper. So in the meantime, I ordered one of the simple roll-up vinyl covers off Amazon for $158 until I decide. I bought the cheapest one they had about a year ago for my '17 F150 and it worked and fit perfectly. It too was under $200. My brother has a Truxedo brand on his F150 and the one I put on mine for half what he paid was just as nice and he actually liked the release mechanism on mine better.

I really like my tyger one. Cheap, easy to install, keeps bed dry

 

Well, Fedex just dropped off my cover. Heading out to the barn to install it. Will get ya pics when finished. Let's see what my $158 got me.....

 

Install took about an hour, mainly because the instructions were not Tacoma specific. Took a minute to figure out why the clamps they sent me were not the ones in the instructions. I have installed a couple of these on trucks so I figured it out with a little trial and error. Haven't road tested it yet but seems a nice tight fit. Has 3 crossbars not counting the one against the cab and the one at the tailgate. Locking mechanism is tight but I think that's a good thing.

The press and seal is great that it does not wear over time or gather mildew like velcro. Once I got the hang of it, it takes no time to catch in the extrusions.

I had it for 11mo now.

 

I had a Truxport on my F150 for almost 5 years. I think I paid around $170 from AutoAnything. Worked well, didn't leak, just wasn't the sleekest. Did what I wanted it to do though.

 

I've heard great things about them, except they've gone up to $300! Most likely cause they're selling the hell out of em lol. But thanks!

That was my plan for mine. Use it until I saved enough pennies for a GoFastCamper. I'm turning undecided. Thankfully, the tonneau will be there for the next few winters, if need be.

 

Any info on how these hold up during winter would be awesome thinking about a roll up as well

 

That is way I got mine. Dry storage when the whole fam is around or for grocery / Costco runs. Zero leaks here, except at the unsealed rail gap in the front corners.

 

Which one did you end up going with ?

North Mountain. If you search 'Tacoma soft tonneau' on Amazon it's the one for $158...free shipping. I thought it was worth a try. Will get a softopper or fiberglass shell down the road...

I have an Access Vanish. Works great and looks good, even after years of use. Seals up decently too, even in rain and car washes. I dropped a couple of plugs in the drain holes to keep some dirt out, works well.
