    Oh the bitterness!

o_O Seriously? I would take 5100s over the OEM 4600s anyday of the week. It’s not even close lol. But to each their own I guess.

There's a set of king 2.5s in the classifieds right now, would those be a good upgrade?

5100s are internally identical 4600 HDs. So.. not far off. Only difference is exterior finishing and 4600 series are valved for stock height, 5100s valved for lifted application (even if used as stock replacements).

How do they compare to the 8112s or the foxes?

Kings and ADS are top tier.

    Fox below them.

Icon, ARB and upper end Bilstein next.

    IMHO.

    Valving is crucial. So...functionally different.

Ive been looking into these or the 6112, yes i am running the 5100 aswell, and trust me i am not happy with the ride. I was told to contact Toytec about lift options. From Vancouver BC. can you sort me out?

hoping to run a 285 tire later this season and jump to a true 3 inch lift.

    Somewhere in the Mojave Desert...
    Vehicle:
    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
I dunno, maybe I am a noob, but one with lots of problem free desert offroad miles -over 100k of them - many in the summer months including 4-weeks in Death Valley summertime with my 1st gen working on backroads in the Mojave mapping mines for BLM and National Park Service led to my purchase of a 2nd set of 5100’s for my 3rd gen. Never an issue with them, ever.

Edit: But I don’t drive offroad like a noob, so maybe that's the only issue with 5100’s.

I spent a lot of time researching them and talking to @Despized over at Rogue offroad. He said they ride better than the kings. I bought a set that they did R&D on that are custom valved with 700lb springs.

Last time I listened to what everyone told me to do on the internet, I ended up with 5100's. Shawn know's his shit, he's ran every shock they sell.

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

Kings are infinitely adjustable. They can ride however you want them to ride.

But hey, looking forward to the next Bilstein’s suck thread.

You know what they say about opinions..

Let me guess you've ran both the 8112s and the king 2.5s on a 3rd gen so you've got first hand knowledge?

Opinions nothing, look at a spec sheet someday and educate yourself.

You seem to be into listening to one guy tell you what to buy instead of actually reading and making a decision for yourself, so your attempts to debate anybody who actually has a clue isn’t going to go far.

Lot of guys post here with “what should I buy?” Apparently that’s you, too.. twice!

    Good luck.

Spec sheets are like tinder proflies. You don't know what you're getting until you actually ride it.

He sells kings too, honestly im a simple guy and i couldn't see myself adjusting shit everytime i wanted to change where im running too.

There isn't a bad review on the 8112s i could find. King makes great product. If i change my mind, I'll sell these and buy kings. I've spoken to King, ADS, FOX, and Bilstein as well as several shops.. Ones that have actually ran both tend to prefer the 8112's over all. To get into triple by pass rears on the Kings to match the triple bypass on the Bilsteins is twice the money. It's not like bilstein is a mom and pop company either.

Just a follow up, it appears my 888s are definately part of the problem. In talking to @Headstrong there QC has gone to shit as of late.

As a follow up, i removed my 888s today one was at 16" (correct height) the other was at 15 3/8 removed from the shock.

Ome is sending me out replacements, but it doesn't cover the 500.00 in alignments or labor.
