    Have you contacted Dewalt?

The warranty isn’t through Lowes. Unless you bought one through Lowes they can’t help you. You have to go through the manufacturer. Thats always the way it is.

I’m not sure why that means Lowes sucks.

Yes, as a warranty issue I did contact Dewalt first...they told me because it was 87 days since purchase I can "just" bring it back to the store I bought it from. Lowes return policy is "If you're not completely satisfied with your Lowe's purchase, simply return the merchandise to any Lowe's store in the US. Most merchandise can be refunded or exchanged with proof of purchase within 90 days of the original purchase date." The store told me that it was "close enough to 90" that I MUST go to Dewalt. I called Dewalt back, who told me they don't actually manufacture their compressors and they gave me the number of the distributor that imports them. The distributor told me I need to contact Dewalt, who told Lowes to take it back again. Lowes refused to do so (lazy employee service). The distributor has stated if I bring it to them they will "review it to see if it is a warranty issue, but I need to pay shipping...$63 each way. In the fiasco of the back and forths it is now truly more then 90 days and Lowes is now pulling that card on me. And frankly as the end consumer, I'm not really interested in the retailer's supply chain issues/process and if the retailer does not have to deal with poor quality manufacturing principles overseas how will they ever learn about product quality issues...because who buys contractor grade compressors on a recurring basis?

Call you credit card company (you did protect yourself and used a credit card, right?) They can probably help if nobody is honoring the warranty or do a chargeback.

Just throwing this out there. In store credit to get a different compressor.

That is shitty and I would throw a fit.

Just return it without the receipt if you've still got the box. Get store credit and buy a new one.

Or, if your really not ethically opposed, just buy a new one today, bring it home and box up your old one and return it the next day with the new receipt because its defective. Might want to go to a different store if you go that route.

There are consumer protection laws around return policy's, if Lowe's is legitimately denying your return as "to close to the 90 day mark" but you did not surpass that mark, you have a the ability to file a legal dispute against the company. I would honestly sit in the store and refuse to leave until you spoke with the regional manager about why the store was denying a return that is within scope of the companies return policy.

    Refund, Return, and Cancellation Policies
Massachusetts law requires merchants to disclose their refund, return, and cancellation policies prior to the consummation of a transaction. A seller can have any type of return policy it wants... “all sales final,” “merchandise credit only,” “full cash refunds within 30 days,” and so on. A seller’s refund, return, or cancellation policy must be disclosed to the buyer clearly and conspicuously before the transaction is completed. Usually, this is done by means of a sign at the point of purchase. Printing the store’s return policy only on a cash register sales slip does not comply.

You may return goods within a reasonable period of time if no return policy was disclosed.

A seller cannot misrepresent its refund, return, or cancellation policy, or fail to honor any promises about it.

    Defective Merchandise Exception
    • Merchant’s return, refund, and cancellation policy cannot apply to the return of a defective product.
    • If you purchase a defective product, then merchant must provide you with options of replacement, repair, or refund. See “Implied Warranty of Merchantability” for more information.
Specially-ordered merchandise may have additional restrictions"

    Can someone help identify this?

Are those two little things on top of the left burner the flame sensors? It's short cycling I'm guessing the problems is those things, the igniter on the right seems to do its job. Any help would be appreciated

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
They are flame sensors. They should be closed at ambient temperature and open if they get too hot. You can bypass one at a time, to see if one is the issue but only for testing purposes. I'd test them with a OHM meter otherwise. If they aren;t the light sensing kind that is. What appliance is this? Make and model?

The ones in my sister's dryer used to go out all the time.

I ended up somewhat cleaning the flame sensor. The long sensor that sits in the flame. And it worked better not 100% but better.

Those are actually not flame sensors.. the one in the rear with a red button is a resettable thermostat and the left side is a thermal cut off.

If you don’t want to replace the TCO, you can remove it. Freeze it with either freeze spray or a can of compressed air turned upside down. Then tap it firmly with a screwdriver handle or similar (ideally you can put your finger between the terminal posts and smack the metal side of the TCO on a hard surface). Then check continuity with a voltage meter.

If you don’t have continuity, repeat until you do. If you do it 10 times and it doesn’t have continuity, replace it.

Resettable thermostats don’t generally fail but they can.

Flame rectification is sometimes built into the igniter, but not that style. You’d see a metal shaft and an extra wire or two to send data back to the PCM.

Generally would replace them as a set, and they should be fairly inexpensive.

If there are any contractors in here or anyone doing remodels local to So Cal Orange County, I have an entire house order of window screens I would make a killer deal on if anyone needs to purchase any (assuming the sizes will work for your needs). Went a different direction on a home. PM me.

Almost time to lay flooring in the entry way/room of our house. It used to be a carport that the p/o enclosed. The floor joists are 16"oc but don't have any type of strapping to keep the flexing down. There's a layer of old 3/4 subfloor and a new layer of 3/4 on top of it.

We're debating on either tile or luxury vinyl plank flooring for this room. There's a light 6x24" wood look tile that we like but I'm concerned tile that long might crack. Would 1.5" of subfloor with 1/4" of backerboard keep the tile from cracking? The floors sturdy but their may be some slight vibration/expansion/contraction.

    Am I overthinking this?

It'll be about 300 sq ft room and is the main entrance to the house/dog room so we need durable flooring in there.
