I was a GM person my entire life until I got the first Tacoma. Without hijacking this thread I will say consumer reports is right on track with this one.

Enjoy the shakes, dash warping, and if you have a sunroof, enjoy when it rains both outside and inside. Ask me how I know... lol

Don't forget the driveline clunk and the AFM cutting out 4 cylinders and burning up your oil

FIL traded his 5 month old GMC sierra. After some time on rutted out farm roads, he bitched about everythng rattling. I'd be OK if he didn't buy the same dame trim and color as mine.

Luckily my 5.3 didn’t eat itself in the 18k I had it from new. Loved the truck, but was a massive pile of shit

Truer words never spoken. Only thing sadder is the handful of shmoes who paid near MSRP for one of them.

Even with the Tacos great resale no one breaks even after only 4 months. I’d bet on a $3-4K loss.

Why are people always dicks just because someone goes out and buys a different truck? Because they didn’t like what they are driving. As soon as someone says they bought a new truck the fan boys here grab their assault keyboards...

As long as you’re happy OP who gives a shit what the people here think.

I know from experience . I wish him all the best with his new truck. But the truth hurts. I made a big mistake and I hope he got the one gem that gm let slip out

Does the 18 Sierra have the 8sp or the new 10?

My 5.3 went 250k with out problems....
But 2000 model HA, no VVT or cylinder deactivation

They all have their own set of issues these days

While I’ve never been a Gm fan and I could basically agree with that, that doesn’t mean his truck will be. I’ve worked on thousands of vehicles and I’ve called them all piles of shit. Some more than others of course. Lots of people have called Tacoma’s piles of shit, and continue to everyday.

I don’t mind GMC’s. But enough already with the square wheel wells.

OP just wanted a different truck. Ram on his mind 2 months ago. He won’t keep the GMC for a year.

I came from a 2014 Sierra SLT, lifted 2” on Bilstien 5100, running 34” NITTO EXO-GRAPPLERs 62,000 miles with no issues. Really the biggest thing was we just wanted to downsize. I drive a truck because that’s what I want to drive, if I need to haul something I have a trailer. Truly liked the Sierra, but the Tacoma fits our needs more. Hope you are happy and have the same experience I did.

Lots of current and previous Tacoma owners I was talking about. Every manufacture has its problems and every one has a list of very unhappy owners
