The standard grease gun tip works just fine. The reason yours is hard to pull of is because the tip is probably not worn in and loose.

You will love it if only for the 2 front hard to reach zerks. I'm frugal but it's worth it for the hasslefree/ time-saving performance.

I can only share my experience with you. On our 2012, the standard Lock N Lube worked for all the DS zerks. On our 2015, the front DS was a bit more finicky and I ended up using the Lock N Lube needle dispenser which worked great. I think the zerks in the 2015 were at a slightly different angle which didn't allow the standard L&L to seal completely and the needle dispenser allowed for a slightly different angle which allowed for grease transfer.
Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer....

    Here is my experience.
the Lock'n lube is great for the drive shaft, but on the most forward zerk of the front drive shaft, I could not make it fit. I have a 2009, Access Cab 4x4.

I'll be fabercobbling the needle adapter since its not available on Amazon.ca :canada:

Can someone recommend a decent manual grease gun to pair this with? I had a cheap mini one from the parts store and it leaked all over my tool box.

This is the one I bought, its decent. Above all, I would recommend a "one handed" gun.
also while your in the spending mood, get some Red'n Tacky to go with it ;)

I just use a regular mini grease gun with a flexible hose. Clean the zert with a dry rag and push on. Never had a problem.

If you have compressed air, consider a pneumatic grease gun with a flexible line to the fitting. Easy peasy laying on your back, maneuvering the fitting to the zerk, then pulling the trigger for a blast of grease. Blows through any crud or stuck fittings. I can’t imagine going back to a manual...

I got a Lincoln for under $70 bucks and the Lock and Lube. I also got the needle fitting just in case but haven’t needed it.

I'm a shadetree mechanic through and through. I've completed a dozen engine swaps, transmission and clutch jobs, completed all variety of difficult and skillful repairs to my and my friends vehicles for nearly 20 years...and today I learned to turn the nozzle 45* to assist in removing it with ease. This is the most useful thing I've learned in years. I hate you, you brilliant bastard. Hate you.

Agreed, though I do mine twice a year on my camping vehicle (which sees about 8K miles a year, so 1.5 oil changes), due to the offroad wear and tear it sees (very mild, but still); once before winter sets in and once before summer wheeling. Significant others gets it once a year, season depends on when I remember to do it.

You don't have to grease, but it makes things last longer and function smoother in the meantime. I've owned several 150K+ mile vehicles that I'm sure have never been regreased.
