Im 03/06, still not sure what the exact dates of change were, thats why I was curious as to his source of the info. It has been asked many times before what the dates are and I have never seen a straight answer.

Any chance you can take some screenshots or otherwise document that? I absolutely believe you, but would be a valuable piece of info for a lot of people to have if possible.

Had a civic with a blown head gasket with same symptoms.Chocolate looking oil, losing antifreeze.Whenever I took the radiator cap off antifreeze exploded out.Any high mileage vehicle could lose a head gasket.

Its honestly just gonna be a picture of TIS or something of the sort. Better off just boldening the text and increasing the text size for the next person to see it better. Pictures just gonna be the same thing he said :notsure:

While this is true, for a year or so the 1gr had a fucked up head gasket which was swiftly fixed. We are all just worried if we made the cut!

I'm just trying to get some verification... Plenty of people on the Internet posting misinformation and claiming it as fact(not saying that's what happening here but solid proof goes alot further than "I have access to Toyota data base").

As I said earlier it is a topic that has been discussed MANY times and I have never seen a definite answer posted aside from his, so if he (or anyone else for that matter) could post up some solid evidence that would be very helpful for a lot of people.

No-that it is indeed an updated part per Toyota. So that if a guy like me buys an engine out of an 07 to replace my 05 with bad head gaskets, I get the new head gaskets on the newer motor...

@Taco'09 or others that could give me some more verification on the updated part number/years. Unfortunately, I don't know this man personally, and while I would like to trust everyone, this is a several thousand dollar bet for me, and i'd like to be able to hedge my bets as best as I can! So please: understand that I mean no ill will towards anyone!

In 1999 my 1988 4runner with 198k blew the head gasket and warped the head. Toyota paid for the replacement 3.0 jasper crate motor and install. It never hurts to ask.

It is well known that they did indeed update the head gaskets due to a faulty design.... what is not well known is WHEN (as in a certain month of manufacture) they changed them.

@Taco'09 claimed to have that knowledge, and I was just asking him to provide some solid evidence, as I said many people would like to know. He doesn't seem to be willing to for one reason or another.

I believe there was a number on an extended recall notice they sent us a few years prior to the blown gasket. I sold that 4runner with all the paperwork a few months ago, so I don't have it too look up. Sorry,
but I would start with Toyota recall department.
