Honestly probably would have got the Rebel if it was the same price...at the end of the day the GMC was cheaper and offered more options for the price. I also work with several people who own GMC’s and have had zero issues with them...getting a fully loaded out full size truck for basically 41k met my finacial plan.

The interior of the GMCs are best in class in my opinion. The Rebel looks a lot tougher. Either way we all hate you now according to this thread. Lol.

I agree that these are problems with the Tacoma. The transmission on my 2015 is clunky for sure, my seat adjustments are finicky and the steering tilt/telescope is limited. I'm about 6 foot, 210 lbs so I fit just about right in the truck. This thread is a good place to celebrate the freedom of our markets! It's a great thing to be able to choose from a wide variety of products from different companies/minds from around the world & then discuss what makes them great/bad or just a fad in a civil manner.

Thanks for giving us a thorough analysis of how you came to your decision and for giving us the sale price versus msrp. Come back and give us an update when you've had the GM for a while.

I just hope you are happy with your choice. Toyota’s are not perfect as we all know and you are still in a truck!

Things I learned from this thread:

    1. Consumer Reports only selectively sucks. Yesterday, we were all howling like a bunch Hino third members when the Tacoma sunk like a pair of concrete boots in the CR rankings. Today we take it for it's word that GMs suck.

    2. Our trucks are connected via some fucked up umbilical cord to our egos. God forbid someone likes something other than a Tacoma. If you don't like my choice in vehicles apparently I can wish only shit and sadness on you.

    3. Many TW good wishes are served up with a salty side of anticipated schadenfreude...."we're so happy you like the GMC, let's see how happy you are when it breaks..you loser."

    4. There are a lot of little bitches on this site. Someone had to say it. Some of you need to back off the keyboard after typing your congrats and well wishes. Bite your tongues when it comes to the shitty predictions.

Hey OP. Congrats on your new truck brother. Hope it gives you nothing but painless miles and big smiles. Take care.

This stuck out to me as well. According to CR Tacoma is the worst truck in the midsize segment. So they got that wrong, but they are right when they say another brand is bad... :boom:

I sold back my GMC Sierra SLT z71 4x4 a year and a half ago to the dealer. Worst ride quality of a vehicle I have ever been in. I could run over a dime and tell you if it was on heads or tales. Way to stiff of a frame/suspension combo that I was getting sick and jaw issues from vibrations. Best looking truck I owned though, hoping this years model rides better. Decent MPG too for a full size truck. Much better then the 6.8mph I’ve been averaging in my work truck (18’ F150 eco boost, worst MPG I’ve ever experienced).

Enjoy your new truck though, they look damn good!

I'm in the same boat. I love my 18 tacoma but some thing a really bug me. The seats hurt my back. For some reason the steering wheel and seat and instrument cluster are not center from each other.you sit at an angle. Btw I'm only 5'8" im not cramped just the seats dont allow my spine to align or something not sure. Also the transmission and power delivery is the worst I've ever experienced. I am looking at going back to a 2005 or 2006 4runner or possibly the new 2019 ford ranger.

    Anyone else thinking of switching?

At 6’6 I feel a bit snug in my taco, but I didn’t need a full-size and as long as nobody sits behind me I am good to go. Everyone has their reasons, etc... enjoy your new ride!

That’s common with some American vehicles.
Price it ridiculously high, then “rebate” and “discount” it down by 10s of thousands.
    It’s not a 60k truck.
    It’s a 40k non-Tacoma truck.
Wait until it gets some miles on it.

That’s not even a fair comparison. You bought a MID size Tacoma knowing your height and said you didn’t fit in it AFTER buying it. And then bought a FULL size truck and are now Raving over it. You would think that before signing on the dotted line, you would have noticed the Tacoma felt cramped and uncomfortable. You would have felt that same way had you bought a Colorado MID size truck and bought a tundra afterwards. I’m just saying if your going to compare...compare apples to apples. Instead of apples to oranges. Compare the tundra to the Sierra. Compare the Tacoma to he Colorado. As for the features on the truck I can see. Such as the telescoping steering wheel and the seat comfort. I agree that the seats are stiff. Garbage?? Not so much really. But I have sat in more comfortable seats. The telescoping wheel? IDK, mine telescopes just fine. And the transmission issues didn’t really make any sense. All you said was “the God awful transmission even after the update”. What’s with the tranny?? Shift bad? No power?? Grind?? If your going to rip and complain at least explain what the issue is. Not to mention lastly, price... the Tacoma fully loaded is around $38-$40k. GMC, fully loaded, runs around $80k. so that means You bought a mid-level unit. Meaning not all the bells and whistles but quite a few of them. But no matter. So, Just- in the future, make sure your Comparing the same items so it’s a FAIR comparison. I’m sure everyone else would appreciate it too.

You got that right!!! Wait until it gets 100k IF THAT MANY miles on it. American cars and trucks, unless they are diesels tend to fall apart!! AND BEFORE everyone starts telling me “ they have 400k miles on their truck with no problems ever, all I had to do was change The oil in it “ vehicles,....for the MOST part, American cars and trucks just don’t last that long before falling apart in general.

I’m 6ft and the cabin feels tight, at 6’ 4” it’s probably miserable. Enjoy the new rig!
