Drained transmission fluid by accident

Why not measure what you drained and put that amount back? With fresh fluid of course

i dropped the truck off at toyota earlier. They said they MAY be able to have it done by end of the day, but most likely it will be done monday morning.

247 Dollars to replace the fluid.

yeah im not too happy about that, but i have no choice.

 

I made the same mistake the first time I changed the oil. I immediately noticed the red fluid and reinserted the plug, only lost a fluid ounce or two.
Unlike you, I was sober (making matters even more embarrassing)
I have not made that mistake again!!

toyota told me it was a closed system and i couldnt do it myself. theres no dipstick.

like it required a pump or something.

 

I’m assuming you drained fluid out the pan only and not the converter, if you measure what you drained, you could safely put back same amount, that’s what the fill plug is there for. How do you think people add fluid to their transmissions that come low from factory? It’s not a “closed” system. Yes it doesn’t have a dipstick, most modern cars don’t, but the drain/fill plug is there for a reason.

i honestly dont know much. This is my first vehicle that i actually maintain myself. Im learning little by little, though.

 

just measure the amount of fluid that came out and put that same amount back in. there is a fill nut up higher where you add the fluid back in. may need a funnel with a hose to get the fluid in but you can figure it out.

 

Damn man, next time just measure what came out and put that amount back in. Toyota WS AT fluid is about $7 /qt

I’d get a pump that screws on top of a qt bottle then you can change your two diffs and Tcase fluids, if not they’ll rape you the same on those

 

man, knowing me, ill probably mess that up.

 

It’s so easy cavemen can do it, proof is many guys here change theirs all the time, including myself

really? toyota told me they have a special machine that does it. they said you also have to put the correct amount and too much or too little would mess things up.
