Dood, you're in the @Thyces good meat area...Leo meat, minus the Leo. I've experienced the Leo, just not his meat. I hear it's to die for

    Edit: meat not meet

Don't you need a licence for ham radios?
Edit: further reading of the same post reveals my answer. I might get mine too.

^Based on what I read, the BaoFeng radio is capable of transmitting on GMRS frequencies in 1W low-power mode, which would not require a certificate. A certificate is required to transmit on other frequencies or in 4W high-power mode (which gives the range benefits).

In any case there's no certificate required to keep one in my drawer, since no one else in our group appears to be using one...

It's a one time deal .Get it and good for life. The examiners are all volunteers so they'll usually do it for a case of beer or something . The guy I'm thinking of going it with said $20 .

That would technically be illegal to use. I've asked with industry Canada. Basically after talking to the main governing body for it. Anything like that requires licensing for every year paid. To have that specific frequency given to you for that area. And that's if they even give you it.
After talking with the guy for few minutes he said best option for better than CB and walkie gmrs is ham. It's the cheapest and easiest alternative, especially given if you find the right examiner they might do it for free

Everyone says this 'no one has it, it's useless'
Yet if everyone that was saying that got it think of how many we would have.
It's really not much to get and it's so much better .

It seems only in the Ontario crowd this is the case . Because any of the group's from out east or west all seem to run it cause it's just so much better

What I still don't understand is why can't we simply get a gmrs radio equivalent to a walkie talkie, but for a vehicle. Thats all I am really looking for. Just hate the fact my current walkies need to be charged all the time. I don't understand the legalities of a gmrs radio thats equivalent to a walkie talkie.

Regardless, me and you can talk about everyone on our ham radios.....if I pass the test. Thing looks insanely hard.

Inside the shaft is rolled up cardboard paper. Toyota could have taken it a step further and turned it into a pinata. Working under the truck with candy would have been awesome.

Most of the driveline losses come from friction in the hypoid ring & pinion gears transmitting power. If the rear driveshaft is removed, the rear diff isn't transmitting power, then driving in "4x4" should be no different than driving in 4x2 normally.

The cardboard inside probably has some vibration damping function...
