Make sure you get one that uses capacitors and not lithium ion rechargeable battery. The lithium batteries are only good for about a year, and don't work well in extreme cold. I lost crash footage because of a dead lithium battery. Now I only use dash cams with capacitors.

Yep that's the one. You remove the mounting sleeve that comes with the camera and clamp this one on the barrel of the unit. It will cover a couple of the lights but that's really not and issue as the little lady inside the unit will announce what mode it is in.

There is not an adjustment as to how tight the clamp holds the camera. It might fit just fine (tight but still can be rotated and removed) or like mine it might be a tad lose. I simply put a little tape on the inside of the mount and it's perfect.

If you get the WiFi version, the app interface will allow you to mount the camera in either direction and you can rotate the image if needed.

I was worried about it being a tad loose too. That’s why I put the cuts in the barrel, thinking some $0.39 O rings would provide just enough friction to hold it in place.

Also, the updated firmware and software will now let you flip the rear AND front recording mode.

On my 2005 and 2010 Tacomas I pulled the front dome light panel and wired the dash cam directly to a wire that was hot when the truck was running. Has anyone here done this with a third gen?

This is my dashcam footage of my low speed deer hit. I was driving my 2010 Tacoma SR5 DCSB 4x4 down a side street looking for a motel at around midnight. It was right at about $8000 in damage. I traded the truck in while it was in the Toyota dealer's body shop. The dashcam I was using at the time was good in that it was simple and very small and had good video quality in the daytime. However, the nighttime video quality was quite bad and it had an internal battery that would fail in the summer heat. I had the dashcam hard wired into the wiring up in the headliner near the front dome lights. I want to do the same with my 3rd Gen. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Smallest-M...epid=2173071110&hash=item5d686c346e:rk:1:pf:0

I have a blackvue in my other vehicle, been going strong for over 6 years now. Replaced the micro SD now and again .

In my Taco I have the Garmin 65w. 180 degree wide FoV which is great.
