Right now the plan is make it back to stock condition, and do exactly that. Throw it on Craigslist.

They are some nice looking wheels.

I found that most of the Vermont reg'd cars are exotic imported cars that just passed the 25 year import restriction.

I've never said you're not going to be able to sell it, but California is going to want their pound of flesh when the title is transferred. They might look at the issue date on that title and make you pony up back fees since in their eyes you've been operating it on the road in California for how many months now? One can scream all day long that it's parts vehicle, it's been non-operational, in my driveway the CA DMV doesn't fuck around when it comes to getting their money.

No title, Registration only. No date on it either. Vermont does not issue titles to vehicles older than 15 years old.

But you're right. DMV will bark up that tree forever.

Only a fool would buy them. CA hasn't allowed grey market registrations in over twenty years and likely never will. The only ones that are allowed are ones that were registered prior to the ban

This is true, Cali has a habit of crushing the cars if caught in violation. Saw a pristine R34 skyline get destroyed for this reason specifically. Another guy got fined a few though and for having one scheduled to be destroyed shipped to Canada to evade.

I saw it happen a few times with late 70's and 80's Porsche 911s and Mercedes Benz SLs. Someone buy s grey market car from out of state and it arrives and they can't register it because the DMV knows it's an ROW (Rest of the World) VIN.

If one buys a correctly imported grey market car in CA it will already have a CA title and be able to pass CA emissions. CA got tired of dealing with grey market cars and stopped allowing new imports to be registered in the early 90's? anything that was registered was grandfathered in.

I’ll never understand the ban on the import cars. So few will be imported it’s not going to affect the air pollution

What are you refering to as trim? Inner or outer belt westherstrip aka window scraper or the window channel?

It's not just pollution. Safety is one major factor. Many do not meet US crash safety standards as well as some cars with too high of a power to weight ratio.

Lame, if you're in any other state you can build your car to suit your own fantasies. In Cali vehicular freedom can't even be bought

These days you can import & register vehicles that are older than 25 yrs. As I understand you can also import cars that aren't 25 yrs old but they require many things that need to pass bar inspection or something like that which is also very expensive. On some vehicles some things are not even possible to change to get passed. 25 yrs & older they don't really care.

However on these imported vehicles, in Cali they still have to meet smog regulations if not older than 1974 which in a lot of cases is not possible.

Stupid Cali smog crap. If it weren't for that I'd probably still have a performance modified car. I got sick of the tickets, the hassles from cops, & having to "get around" smog.

California doesn't care what the EPA and DOT now allow. If it has a ROW VIN you're not registering it in California unless it was registered in California prior to the ban

I was talking about importing vehicles from outside the US.
