Wow, what a great picture. My first new vehicle was a 78 International Scout,$6700.00. It was a stripped down model,4cyl.,4spd., 4x4. That color in the pic is called Elk, same as mine, the white roof was an upgrade that mine didn’t have. They rusted really bad, if you were quiet you could here them rust. I bought it from an International Harvester dealer, they sold semi’s. The service dept was open 24/7 to keep the truckers going, it was right of I-94 in Dearborn,Mi. I miss that truck so much, if you can find one now there crazy money. Thanks for posting that pic, brings back so many great memories.

I believe, with the help of several friends, it would come off. I never tried with mine.

Once, when I was around 19, myself and a buddy went on a hunting trip about 200 miles from home. We started getting freezing rain and went around a corner and slid off the road into a ditch. We were about 1/2 mile from his family's camp, so we grabbed our guns and walked. Came back in a few hours and EVERYTHING in my Scout had been stolen. Stereo, all of our clothes, everything. Either the sliding windows on the top didn't lock or we forgot to lock them. We wore the same clothes for 3 days.

I just can’t give this one a like, I have had my stuff stolen before and it sucks. My Scout didn’t come with a radio. I put in a Pioneer Super Turner and little home speakers.

Anybody not remember the car radio that needed to be tuned by rotating a knob?

Sometimes the signal would fade sometimes and needed to be tweaked.

For that matter, old radios in general.

On late summer nights when the weather was just right, you could grab a signal from hundreds of miles away, although very faintly.

Listening to baseball games from two states over was always kind of a thrill....

Only if you ignore the ones who didn't have class. Like half. People haven't changed much. Just the surroundings have.

My grandfather had a '63 Chrysler crown imperial that was push button trans. Possibly the biggest car I've ever seen. As an adult I could lay on the front and rear dashboards.
