I had some split loom lying around and finished up the installation.

    IMG_20181010_165405.jpg

After this pic, I went back over each loom with the friction tape.

Since I am happy with the single flush mount hooked into the right side harness, I capped the reverse connector on the left.

It is a beta test for an upcoming plug-n-play kit that @NoOne and @mesojdm are working on.

My setup with a single flush mount reverse light is on the previous page.

It will eventually be a MESO offering. He's all over the place right now, but give him some time...

I just hope if meso is involved he'll make enough to go around before his offering.

    @mesojdm

From the photo taken by @tonered it looks like your harness is using the low wire from the turn bulb, but you're using the high wire from the brake bulb to power both sockets. Why not use the brake low wire likewise?

I guess the question would be: Why? Save a wire? You still need ground/line to that lamp. The Tacoma does odd signaling, and resistance issues, so it seems an unnecessary risk/reward.

I am one of the members here that received one of the prototypes. I was pursuing the same solution myself as can be seen from several of my previous posts in this thread.

Top notch work! This harness has done everything I wanted to accomplish. Once these are in production, I expect there will be 2 options. One for the switchback and another for relocation alone. I have at this time stayed with incandescent bulbs, excluding revers of course, but may move to LED brake and blinker in the future.

Stock blinker passenger relocation driver's side.

    Same with reverse.

Thanks @tonered. The development of this is top notch. Great work @NoOne Hopefully, @mesojdm will be able to run with this soon.

The install was simple and will allow me to switch back to stock mode with a 10mm, small screw driver, and about 10 or 15 minutes. I did find that the plug for the reverse bucket difficult to separate from the socket. This was true both with the stock and relocation harness plug. I think it is due to the stock socket having a lock tab that is a tab bit taller than needed, making the release tab incapable of releasing the socket. It may also be operator error and only be present in my or some of the Tacomas. It was quite easy to use a small screw driver to lift the edge of the socket locking hook to release it.

That would be my ONLY critique of the harness. With that said the same condition DOES exist with the stock plug so it is NO way a problem with the harness plug. This minor issue was on MY truck and may not be found on any other.:notsure: All the plugs on the harness fit exactly like stock.

I am not sure I am completely pleased with the position of the reverse pods. It is the OCD in me. They have actually reduced the glare in the camera, I would assume this is due to the lights being positioned beneath the bumper. There is definitely a better throw, distance, of the light.

The lights are level with the ground while the lower edge of the bumper is not. I am considering fabricating brackets to mount the pods. Currently they are on the rear most bolt of the bumper mount. The angle of the light pods can currently be adjusted up/down and left/right.

If I were to make an "L" bracket and mount it on the inner bolt it would allow me to articulate the light bars on a third axis. The could then be adjusted to be parallel with the lower edge of the bumper rather than the ground. Additionally, it could bring the pods a bit father, 1/4" to 1" depending on the bracket and preference, under the truck. This MAY wait until I decide to do a LED conversion.

I too had a small struggle with the stock and mod harness connectors on the reverse light holder. The ramp on the reverse lamp holder could be shaved just a bit to help with this.

I can understand the OCD. Maybe split the difference between the bumper angle and horizontal?

Turn as Tail is a single product from diode dynamics that supports only LED bulbs and combines the running, brake, and turn signal lights all in the "C" portion of the tail lights.

The pics @tonered and I have posted are a "relocation" harness and are prototypes. The harness re-configures the position of the lights. The goal here is to allow the "C" to be running and brake only.

It also currently has 2 options that are being developed.
Move the blinker to the reverse bucket and the reverse to a pod or bar placed on, under, or in the bumper. Really the options here are up to the user as reverse could also be moved to a rack or accessory bracket.
Move blinker to the reverse bucket using a switchback to allow both reverse and turn via the same position/bulb.

The switchback version will very likley have pics posted in the near future.

Ok so a little off topic, but I have KB Voodoo rack that goes off and on from my truck. I am adding to it @KC HiLiTES multi function bar to serve as a third brake light and amber lights for off road dusty desert runs. The LED bar is SAE approved for street, how would I wire up brake and turn signal lights? I do many things well, but wiring diagrams are not my strong suit.

The KC Hilites LED diagram is below, it has a single wire for red running lights to both ends, and one wire for left and one wire for right brake lights. I thought about using the amber lights as turn indicators but it only has one wire for both sides of the ambers. As you guys have discussed the Tacoma’s brake and turn signals are separate bulbs and halves of the tail light. I’m not interested in modding the OEM tail light set up, but how to make the LED brake and signal.

    HELP I NEED
How do I wire the LED bar to give red running lights, brake lights on the ends, and turn signal indicators?

If I tap the brake light for left and then for right of the LED bar then I lose turn signal, correct? Could I tap into the wiring of the trailer harness to preserve running light, brake, and turn signal flashing? Being LED would I need resistors for the turn signal function?

My @KB Voodoo rack and I will be mounting the LED bar to the rear extruded aluminum cross bar

I have this 12 pin plug to hook up the rack when it’s on, 8 pins for the LED bar and 2 more to power the cargo and area lights on the rack, and 1 power to my RTT cabin lights
