    Hey everyone,

I’ve had my ‘18 TRD OR for about 5 months now and learned a lot thanks to many helpful people on here. I’m now ready to pull the trigger on a lift setup.

My budget is $3k-ish including install. I do some off roading but mostly want it for looks. I def want to do it right as I need this truck to be reliable and last. It’s my daily driver. I upgraded my wheels to the trd pro 16” wheels but everything else is stock.

I’m a noob with lifts but reading around here seems the thing to do is not go the spacer route. Also heard stuff about needle bearing issues and this and that.

Tdlr; Even with reading around here, I’m a noob with the lift stuff and don’t want to F my truck up. Would appreciate any help to get a quality, clean, safe and reliable setup that won’t kill my warranty either.

I did the 5100, spc, ome coil lift..

    I wouldn't do it again.

I'm doing it over right now. The dakkar 5160 combo in the rear is money do far.

I'll report on the 8112s in a couple weeks..

That being said, 6112s if you don't plan on bumpers/winch. If you plan on that down the road. King 2.5s with dsc, king extended rears, dakar mediums, diff drop kit (no eccgs issues here with it) and icon delta joint ucas..

The reason im not sold on the spcs, is most alignment shops won't touch them or flat fuck them up.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately a lot of that is Chinese to me lol. I would just call / email one of the vendors here but wouldn’t want to be sold the wrong thing.

Rule of thumb (on 2nd gens) is keep the lift to about 2 inches. More than that and you start running into issues which need to be compensated. Not sure where the point of accumulated issues is on a 3rd gen.

To keep it simple, buy a 3rd gen PRO kit. It’s what Toyota does.

I also have the bilstein 5100s and I like the setup a lot. I would contact @HeadStrong Off-Road and let Marie be your guide to the lift that will best fit your needs

I’m fine getting UCAs if that’s what you’re referring to.

Is this what you’re talking about? I read on here that if you want to mainting the towing and hauling of stock you need to go dakars in the back

Yup, my truck tows, hauls, and rides way better than stock with the dakars in the rear.

Nice, so what’s the total lift you get with that setup? Also is there anything else I need like uca’s? Or is that kit all I need to order? Again I’m looking to do this right for reliability and to last.

    I got 2.5" average.

I did SPC ucas on mine. My only bitch with them is that most alignment shops can't figure them out. I'm considering going to the icon delta joint ucas, the jba high caster could be another good choice.

Cool thanks. I’ll prob get that kit I linked to and I want a delta joint UCA? Also, any other issues or things I’d need to consider or buy? I’ve read about needle bearing issues and diff drops and CV angles and this and that. Is that stiff only an issue when you go bigger?

I just did a diff drop kit on mine, no issues with 10k miles on it.

The delta joint is what I'm going to next. The spcs are fine, i just want the option to get my alignment done anywhere.

Are you planning on bumpers or a winch down the line?

So I should do a diff drop or not necessary? And I’m not sure but probably not. This lift setup can affect a bumper or winch?

Bumpers are more about spring upgrade possibilities. I don't believe the 6112s have the option for spring upgrades which means if you do a bumper and winch down the road you may have sagging issues once installed.

The diff drop was literally the easiest part of my lift i installed.. cheap insurance.

Got any pics? Wondering how much a 2.5” is noticeable. Sounds like it’s a good setup for off-road at least too

If you look at my build thread there's plenty of pictures of mine with 2.5" lift..

Looks good. I saw you complain in another thread about the 5100s and only getting a half inch lift after settling?! What gives? I wouldn't want to spend all this money all for just a half inch lift from stock. Am I missing something here?

Hence why im not reccomending the 5100/888 combo for your fronts. My coils failed it appears. The 6112s are a better shock, ill be installing 8112s this week in the front. The first lifted pictures show it with 2.5".
