    I was at the dunes yesterday romping around but nothing crazy. The dirt drag strip was flooded so I hadn't even did any WOT runs

    It's the tensioner for the SC belt. I'll have to contact Magnuson to see if I can get a new one under warranty or otherwise purchase just this part

    I believe that tensioner is near the bottom of the engine IIRC.

    I still don’t see how that happens?!?!?

    yep. happened to me maybe a year at most ago. Was just driving down the road, and heard and felt 0 boost.. pulled over and popped the hood.. and it was just chillin down on my skidplate.

    I was running the 2.8 (I believe, I dont think I had switched to the 2.6 yet).. and running the shorter gates belt. the extra strain Im sure didnt help at all... but those tensioners are known to be a bad casting process. Mine broke in the same exact spot. the thinnest area of the tensioner, plus weak casting.. and especially with any extra load (shorter belt), they just snap like that. I just replaced mine with another one.. and went back to the original S/C belt. but.. since im running a 2.6 now, I might re-visit the shorter belt.

    I'll see if I can dig around and find more about my incident.

    It might not be a bad idea to revisit having a whole new tensioner made of full steel again. The shorter belt's adds extra tension which is good to ensure no slippage, and if you have too much tension on the cast aluminum tensioner casing, snap it goes.

    I never did like cast aluminum. It's very brittle.

    exactly. I did reach out to a company, but they were only able to either make something custom (very pricey) or alter another kit to make it work (also pricey). I just couldnt justify it.

    I remember when you broke yours actually. I was blown away because I couldn't believe it. Still can't believe it actually. I have been doing some investigative work to figure out if there is a 70.5" or 70" length version of the Gates Fleetrunner belt which can be modified to have a rib or 5 cut off of it so the guys with 2.8 pulley's can still run stock length but get increased belt traction if coupled along with Roostfactors pulley wrap mod.

    I currently run a Fleetrunner belt. It works amazingly combined with all the wrap and tension mods I have made additional to.

    Wow pretty much identical breaking points. I wasn't even in boost when I noticed mine. Just heard it rattling against the crank pulley and noticed the SC belt off. I cut the belt out and drove home with no issues just using light throttle

    which makes me even more confident its their manufacturing process on that tensioner casting.

    same here. not in boost, and had to cut it out to drive home. they replaced it and all has been good since then. I may try that shorter Gates belt tho again since I have the 2.6"

    Remove tensioner, warm with heat, weld on gusset, let cool slowly.
