What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Seriously debating but a trailgear rear bumper..4wp sent out a sales flyer and it's down to 399.00. I don't need a swing out and my factory bumper has a bullet hole in it and is beat to hell..

 

if i didnt turbo i was gona put an lq4 in mine. maybe if i blow the 3.4 beyond repair.

 

cxr makes bolt on motor mounts and exhaust for ls conversion

 

if only it was simple with the stock 4wd setup..

 

I just run the d3 filter. More oil doesn’t hurt

 

D2 in the US? All I get if I feel like going OEM is the D1 for my 3RZ, D3 for my dads 4.0L. Interestigly enough, the NAPA equivalent to both of those is the same size as the D1. Goes to show size doesnt really matter, as long as its being filtered and changed every 5k.

 

The d series and g series filters all are the same. Length is the difference

 

D3 is the largest with the most filter material

 

I run the D3. But mostly because Its easier for me to grab

 

why wouldnt it be

 

exhaust routing is a big problem because of the front drive shaft and front diff. Hell the oil pan in a problem with the diff.

Can't use the CXracing headers with 4wd.

 

Whats the best way to remove the metal sleeve in the leaf spring eyes? Torch? Sawzall? BFH? Gonna hopefully install poly bushings and axle shims tomorrow.

 

Can we discuss the crack toyota was smoking when we talk about oil filter location.

 

22RE 'nuff said. Usually half to tell the lube monkey how to reach it when I'm feeling lazy and don't do it myself. Hardest motor to change the filter on, of the ones Ive done or seen. The 3RZ and 5VZ are way easier in comparison.

 

My 4wd 3rz is easier to change than my 2rz, the 2rz truck is lowered so it just is a pain to get a strap filter wrench up there. Didn't the JDM 3.4 come with TWO oil filter locations? I wonder if the other one is easier to reach. Overall it sucks.

 

Back on original subject matters.

My home made Toyota pack is a smooth ride. No more bucking out of the back suspension going over speed bumps. It handles the full tank and 300lbs of camping gear perfect. Achieving full stuff and max drop without binding. I will be using limiting straps and bumps after adjusting my shock location. And ditching the shitty u bolts. Used my oem, and a 2014 oem pack as well. 2.5 inches of lift and a days work. I owe a great guy some beer for his 2014 leafs.

 

oh yea. they do have an oil pan for the swap. i remember the guy in lt thread had to notch the front crossmember with a low pro pan but it cleared front diff.

What U bolt flip kit did you go with?

 

Made my own out of .25 in flat bar I had and some shitty 1/2 orileys u bolts. I will be re making them with 3/8 and step up to 5/8 u bolts it was just to get it mobile. The problem I was having is all the after market plates are way wider then needed so the ubolts dont have positive contact on the sides of the axle.

1st gen u bolts only need to be 3 in on the Id. Other wise they only contact it on the bottom of the bolt.
