Best news of the night wasn't getting herbie to start, but when i just checked, no signs of fluid on the ground. Before running it for any time would result in at least a 3" circle of oil.

Engine builder put a jb weld type of stuff on a crack in the magnesium block. It held for 45k miles before it started leaking. Here's to another at leak 5k!

Guess it's time to order some parts and get it plated.

I tested out traction with BFG AT KO2's on a Lickskillet Rd - washboard dirt road that had a layer of ice under 6" of fresh powder. This Subaru didn't make it. After I took the picture, I ended up sliding back 20 feet completely out of control. I then put the chains on my truck, locked the rear diff and had no problems.

    Send it subie!

If you would've had duratracs, you could've saved the time it took to install and remove the tire chains, but as long as you made it fine, it's all good!

    Update on the camper.
Saturday just before noon I decided to pop it open and see if any rain from the previous weekend had intruded into the front portion. i had a suspicion the airflow from the windshield may have been blowing the rain under the top and into the canvas.
It did :(. should have taken pics, but at that point with the upcoming blizzard, i was more concerned with drying it out and fixing the problem.
The front of the canvas has a seam right down the middle and the water intruded at the seam onto the bed.
The sheet was wet but the mattress itself was dry. Any moisture is unacceptable.
This is no good if going up to camp and it's raining on the way up, totally defeats the purpose of having a camper.
So clear Flex tape was used to seal the seams. All of them, front, sides and back. Even though the front was the only source of leakage, thought being proactive was the best bet at this point.
It adhered quite well, i have pretty good confidence in the stuff as opposed the the other products they offer.
But the issue of water coming in through the cap while driving still remains. 4-Wheel campers had a similar problem that they solved with a thick rubber bulb to seal the front end.
I'm not sure there is room on mine to install weatherstripping of this kind.
But was thinking an upholstery shop could make me a custom form fitting vinyl bra for the front end that could attach to the buckles on each side.
Black of course, no flowers or swirly designs, just a basic black bra. Tight and sexy.

Almost no snow in my area today, just cold and windy. So I took my oldest kid a few miles up Rampart Range Road starting at Garden of the Gods. Didn't meet much traffic which was nice. It was pretty with the snow falling, etc. Unfortunately I failed to take any pictures.

You think seam sealer would work? They make it in spray, goop and tape for tent and fabric seams. A bunch of different brands and names and price ranges. I haven't ever used any though.
