There’s a second air filter that tends to fall apart and go in the intake, check it out. There’s a cheap replacement to get rid of the foam inside and have a small cotton setup.

    Glad you're okay.

Go somewhere else for gasoline, like a Exxon, Shell, or Chevron, and check the mpg after two full tanks. The thing about HEB, Murphy, Buc-ee's, etc. is that they'll buy the cheapest fuel being traded on the market, and it won't have any proprietary additives. I've worked in the industry for about seventeen years and I can assure you that those proprietary additives do make a difference.

Also, the underground fuel tanks may have a water leak somewhere. You never know. Again, it's a box to check off and an variable to eliminate.

    Smart.

You're right about gasoline in general, and especially here in the Houston area. Gasoline from all the surrounding refineries are all mixed together in these tank farms and terminals and the only thing that makes the gas you buy at your favorite gas station is the proprietary additives package that's added to the fuel at the tanker truck... Or lack there of. There is a reason why discount gas is discounted.

I'm sure you don't need to be told this, for for posterity: stay away from run down or shady gas stations. If they can't take care of the exterior, they sure as hell can't take of the fuel tanks.

    You and I both.

    OMW.

Hopefully I'm replying correctly here. Just let me know.
I guess I found Tacoma World a couple years back when I wanted to sell some old parts. My Trucks getting quite a few miles on it now and I want to keep it running and being new to the area it would be cool to meet people with common interests. If you talking about where I came from then I'm born and raised in tiny town in Kansas then moved to LA 20 years ago to pursue a career( Im an artist) after 20 yrs its just to crowded and tense so I came to Austin to find a happy medium

Aha, what I suspected...another California escapee. Since you’re originally from Kansas I think we can let it slide. :D

We have several local members who are experts at wrenching on these trucks, though we don’t see a lot of 1st gens. The last red 2004 we had out at a meet rear-ended a 1957 Corvette on the way out (and I wish I was kidding). He hasn’t rejoined us...but we didn’t make him try to show off, either.

Cars and Coffee Austin (find their FB page) is when the Austin crowd has a monthly meet, with occasional folks from San Antonio, Houston, and even the DFW area making appearances. You’ll see posts about it here and in the Austin thread (I tagged you there) if you want to meet up, enjoy tacos (we cook), see some nice cars, and make fun of the Jeeple.

We’ll be on the look-out for you and hope to see you around town!

Ah, OK, also judgey! But just go through the last 5 pages of posts, and you will find weather, health, hunting, actual truck issues, and personal matters you would otherwise never find. Plus, we have @Bigdaddy4760 coming ALL the way back from Alaska! Where can you get all THIS, without suffering personal fear or injury? Nowhere, nowhere I say!:help:

Sadly there were not. He skedaddled as quickly as possible and we only heard about it from the show runners. “Hey, that red truck that was with you rear-ended that old Vette...”

    Cringes all around.
