Have you gotten your wheels and tires balanced, and aligned? I got my wheels used, and my steering wheel started to violently shake at 60 MPH. After I got new tires, and alignment, shaking went away for good!

Edit: Sorry, just read that you've realigned several times.

Removed the rear prop shaft 3 hours ago as suggested, and put it into 4Hi. Didn’t even know that was a thing until I did it, felt pretty cool driving around like that to be honest. Unfortunately, it didn’t do anything to help my problem... was really hoping it would. I’m running firestone destination LE2 tires. I bought them a month ago from the dealership as take-off tires from a 2018 TRD sport. I assumed that by doing this that they wouldn’t be defective since they were on a brand new truck. The multiple shops I’ve been to can’t seem to figure out the problem, and the dealership has told me they’re at a loss... man is this ever frustrating, this Tacoma makes me want to drive it into a ditch some days... the rest of the days I love it though

Your situation is tires and/or wheels. I’m about 98% positive on that. By swapping them with your brothers and the shanking going away is a big sign it is. Not sure why his didn’t shake with yours on his truck but maybe his is more wore out, or tighter, and couldn’t tell a difference. By it not going away when you removed rear shaft eliminates a very large cause of shakes. If your front wheel bearings are good, I’d be looking solely at the tires and/or wheels.

I could try that, but that's what I tried first when i bought these from the dealer. My "old" tires are basically brand new Toyo open country's that shook as well... Maybe it could be wheel related? It's hard for me to believe that though because the tire shop said runout on the wheels was perfect when they balanced them, and switching wheels front to back didn't help. BTW love your build Ali3n

OP, I missed whether you also tried a front > back swap on both the old set and the new set. If not, just for fun try that swap and see if the vibration moves.

There was an older TSB for replacing the transmission mount for a vibration. May be worth a shot since all else has failed.

No it was for a vibration similar to a drive line/u-joint vibe.

It could be a CV axle I suppose. Just not very likely. Are they after market?

His whole truck would shake, not just the steering wheel.

OP, when you are tightening you lugs, are you doing it correctly?

I think so, I'm tightening them tight while jacked up, then I'm using a torque wrench to get them to 83ft/lbs once its back on the ground
