Boston is rediculous. Everything is just out of this world expensive. Just a city thing

Dinner wasn’t too bad; $65 for the two of us with a large beer each. Cant really complain since the tickets and parking were given to us as a gift. That’s a shitton cheaper than the 3 bills we dropped at top of the hub for our anniversary a few years ago (before kids).

We went to cirque about 8 years ago for “ovo” and it was pretty good. I hate theater but Hamilton was different. Felt like a history lesson to old school rap played by a full orchestra. There were some funk master flex, biggie and other influences in it.

Painfully slow here.... But, that's because I didn't bring a radio to play with tonight. Last week my doc told me to "leave that nerd shit at home" after we got slammed right when I started programming local repeaters.

I am standing a radio watch for my ship. listening for any maydays and such. rather boring at night. but allows me time to look on here since no one walks into the space.

So what your saying is, once I get home (few weeks) and hopefully pass my test, I can hit you up for info and advice? haha. One of my old bosses is big into it and talked me into checking it out. Had the wife get me the ARPL book last xmas (told her would help out with work since I'm a electronics tech and I'm rusty with radios).

I don't know much about talking on the thing (sounds strange). I am learning DMR and picked up a few radios under the advice of @m603holden

I mostly do digital packet radio (APRS and text messaging). I can absolutely help you with that stuff.

What little I know about everything else, I can share as I learn.

Ya I don't know any of that. still learning it. I know how to fix radios, and talk on them normally. nothing fancy. yet. so once I get to that level ill hit you up though.

I was finally able to buy a second battery for my new radio last night. When I bought the radio you couldn't get a second battery yet. Oh and another belt clip since they mount on the battery instead of the radio. Almost bought another antenna to try and get into the repeater a little better from where I live.

I need to find out about this packet stuff. I got the APRS and text messaging down. Been using DMR since 2 days after I got my call sign. The cut off from the DMR repeater is at the ditch in my front yard. I take one step back and lose it. Also have to use a hotspot at the house because even if it did go a little further the metal roof on the house would kill it. So I'm SOL on a attic antenna too.

Study a section at a Time. Only memorize the answers. Test to pass. You'll learn the real stuff after you get your license. 10-15 questions in a lunch break or so. All are multiple guess

Murph you're up early haha. Packet it sweet. Been looking into doing a raspberry pi for it . But you got APRS. So you've already got a form of packet. Btw you're going to be my test dummy for APRS satellite messaging

Actually I’m up late because someone felt the need to go waste the ER’s time also besides mine.

Let me know when you’re ready to do some testing. Always game!

Basically if there's no tower near by to do system aprs , you can use these satellites for long distance reporting.

    http://www.aprs.org/astars.html

But you can also message directly to someone via simplex on yours Murph. Which is sweet
