I’ve heard the taller you are the better you’ll fit into a Tacoma. It’s that pesky 5’10” to 6’4” range that is causing issues.

All I see is nose on nose on nose....

Gonna need a high clearance bumper, six inch lift and 35s to get those proportions back in check.

I agree with many points the OP said. I've driven full-size 1/2 ton trucks as my daily drivers for years. I'll be going back to a full size eventually for the overall comfort, size and additional towing capacity. I'll get a late model low mileage F-150 Ecoboost or maybe even go back to a Titan(most comfortable full-size daily driver I've ever had). Additionally, I'm working on getting a job closer to home so I won't be racking up tons of miles on the new rig. In fact, I just bought a beater to commute in to keep the miles off the Tacoma for max trade-in value. I'll still drive it occasionally and use it to haul. I have nothing against my Tacoma beside it's a little cramped inside and won't be able to tow some of my toys in the future.

I agree with the shit seats in the Taco. I actually went from a full size RAM to the Taco due to better suiting my needs. This truck is much more agile and comfortable. kinda like a big Camry.

PS. My buddies have new Chevy trucks and are always in the shop for issues. One is a tranny slip problem with only about 20k miles on his 2017.

I have a 98 Silverado with the 5.7. I've owned it for nearly 20 years. It has nearly 270k. That thing has been a tank and it rides like one too. You are right about the quality imo. I've replaced everything on it at least twice except for the block, transmission and fuel injection. I've disabled so many sensors to cheaply fix something that I would be afraid to sell it to someone. Other than that it's been ok. It got really frustrating having to fix something all the time. When I got my 17 Tacoma sport I ended up keeping it. Everyone needs a work truck. With that being said, when it's time to buy a full size truck I'm going to the Trundra and keep the Tacoma for fun. I've got a great story for that reasoning too. Congratulations on the GMC. Enjoy. Btw I'm 5'10,3/4"

Mainly now a days it’s only German cars that sport the straight 6. Or have to say it’s probably either a Beemer or Mercedes. I’m not a gear head by any means. But i don’t recall many cars that are famous for having a straight 6.

I’d rather have the sound. I can’t stand driving something that sounds like a pissed off insect. And although I do have a 16 taco now, I got it for longevity’s sake. I don’t plan on getting rid of it anytime soon and yes, getting the Zplan really helps with an additional car purchase. Back in 07 I walked out financing $19k on a new F-150 extra cab 4x4 with a fairly new trade in and the zplan pricing. So if ford does release the bronco I’ll be at the lot looking at them and most likely buying one.

    Why RIP?
Is not dead, just because you decided to abandon it (like a pup in the desert) doesn't mean somebody will not adopt it and give it a good life.

Can’t say I agree with your decision to buy a GMC but to-each-his-own I guess. I’m 6’8” and sold my Chev 3500 Dually extended cab for an 18 Tacoma LB with a sunroof (even less head room) and i’ve been comfortable and happy even on a couple of 10 hour+ trips. I may sit a little closer to my passenger but the double cab more than makes up for interior room. I find the bucket seats very comfortable and the leg room is almost identical to my Chev. The only thing I miss is the diesel and great fuel mileage I used to get.........and maybe a cruise control system that doesn’t occasionally drop down 2 gears and scare the shit out of me...

Bought a Chevy Blazer in 88 and it was bad news. Sold it in 89 and bought a 89 Toyota 4X4 and kept it until 2006. Bought a 2002 TRD off road and sold that this year and bought an 18 SR. So the story is my Chevy lasted a year and my two Toyota trucks lasted a combined 33 years logging 177,000 and 105,000 miles. How could I even chance another brand.

Big tall Dave in his Tacoma. Hopefully it doesn’t drop 2 overdrive gears and scare the shit out of him. Wouldn’t want to soil those comfy seats

For whats its worth...go to a used car lot and find a 5+ year old Tacoma....see how long before its sold if you can find one. Then any other manufacturer, full size or otherwise. Compare same year pricing, condition and mileage...dare you.

You don't even have to leave your house. Just look online.

If you do go to the dealership, sit in one of each. The GM's I've been in have such a different feel from when they were new. My 05 Tacoma still felt as tight in 2018 as it did in 2005. That's not the case with Chevy's.
