Got my Alarm installed last week. I went with the compustar & Drone mobile. The drone mobile allows you to remore start, lock, unlock and control your alarm all with your cell phone or apple watch. I added on the RPS touch, its a keypad that allows you to arm or unlock your truck using a pin number. Comes in handy when im at the beach I can hide my keys in the truck and arm the alarm using the keypad. The alarm Also utilizes the OEM keyfob so no need to carry a second remote.

I have no experience installing alarms so I had everything done at an audio shop. Everything came out to $550. I had 2 other quotes from other shops ranging up to $800.

Cool concept, keep the fingerprint smudges clean on the windshield so nobody guesses the combo!

not bad, basic drone mobile runs about $400-450.

the big issue I have is the plan cost service.

    basic
    -------------------------------
    Price per Month
    $5.99 USD/month

    1-Year Prepaid
    $59.99 /1-Year

    2-Years Prepaid
    $99.99 /2-Years

    3-Years Prepaid
    $129.99 /3-Years
    -------------------------------

    premium
    -------------------------------
    $11.99 USD/month

    $119.99 /1-Year

    $219.99 /2-Years

    $299.99 /3-Years
    -------------------------------

switched to a different service that uses the same compustar remote module that only costs $30 year and give you everything in the basic plan plus gps. you have to pay for the premium to get the gps in drone mobile.

don't get me wrong I love my drone mobile but the cost has gotten out of had for just a basic remote start service.

forgot to add, the basic yearly plan changed from $50 recently to $60. I renewed back in may and it was $50, now I see the same plan is $60 and nothing has been changed feature wise.

If you do the 3 year prepaid Drone Mobile plan, it comes out to be $43 per year. I sell and install Drone Mobile and Compsutar products and couldn't be happier with it. The 4G LTE Drone Mobile is ridiculously fast. Confirmation is almost instant.

@NoDak what is the other telematics product you are using?

I had the viper smart start on my last truck. It worked great and I liked it. Both are pretty much identical & that was only $65/yr. This time I went with compustar, I like the is a la carte option and not needing to carry a second remote. I also feel like the Drone is a tad bit faster to reapond.

The drone is a separate module. Most shops charge around $150 to add it on. You can get one for 80-100. When you pay 400-450, you’re paying for the entire remote start, usually including remotes and adding the module on.

The reason you have a monthl/yearly fee is it runs off of cellular networks. The older ones used ATT and the new ones Verizon. Just like a cell phone, they have a contract with these companies to provide the service. Without it, the module wouldn’t be able to be controlled anywhere at anytime from your phone/tablet/computer.

yes, especially since they added the ability to turn off sounds. was very annoying when you remote start and the dam app plays several tones/music during the process (loudness was dependent on your media volume setting)

another issues is sometimes the location report is slow or you need to refresh it 3-4 times to get an accurate location, but hey its a free option compared to most remote starts that charge for that gps location feature.

Not sure if you're still around the forums, but wanted to find out if the RPS touch still works properly when it's raining outside (with wet windshield and wet fingers say). I'm considering getting a similar package to yours.
With this alarm system that you have with Compustar, do you find any issues with battery drain when it's parked?
From what I gather, there's an audible beep with every press of a button with the RPS Touch. Can you disable that?

These are probably questions I should be asking the dealer, but the guy there didn't know if the RPS worked in the wet.
